Once upon a time, there was a 13-year-old boy called John Borne. He lived with his grandpa and grandma in Minnesota near the forest.

John found out that his grandpa got a cancer. He felt so sad that his grandpa would die in a couple of months. It was too much to handle for this young boy.

Every fall, grandpa taught John how to hunt a deer with rifle. He was John’s best friend and teacher for life. However, he had to go alone this year.

Deer Season Came.

“We hunt the deer to save meat for the upcoming winter. Do not kill any for fun.”Grandpa reminded.

As soon as snow covered the forest, John left the house with his rifle.

The deer made footprints on the snow where no one had walked, and John started to track them.

Why not? Because John felt strong sympathy toward the doe.

It wasn’t deer’s footprint. As John followed the path, a beautiful doe appeared. But he couldn’t kill the doe

John was aiming for the doe with his gun, but his finger didn’t move. He thought saving the doe could also save his grandpa.

For two days, John kept tracking the trail on the snow. Finally, he found a doe lying on the ground, exhausted.

John took care of the doe instead of killing her and prayed to keep his grandpa alive.

He fell down into the snow, but when he opened his eyes, the doe was gone.

John returned home empty handed.

When John told his grandpa about saving a doe, he was very proud of this young boy.
