The Grip
Players looking to improve their tennis game should first scrutinize their grip. When hitting the ball, players will grip the racquet in different ways depending on their stroke. Generally, players should grip the racquet as if they were shaking someone’s hand. For groundstrokes, the player’s index finger should be positioned in the right lower edge of the racquet.
Conclusion
Serves also present many opportunities for improvement: in good serves, the ball should travel up and down in front of the player’s front foot within 18 inches. Striving for a consistent ball toss on each serve will help to increase one’s serving percentage.
Finally, in order to be successful in tennis, one must use the right equipment. Adults should use racquets that measure either 26 or 27 inches in diameter. Additionally, players should wear tennis shoes that can tolerate constant movement from side to side.
