WHEN SHE WAS BORN…… Tillie was born at Skane, Sweden on

April 23,1875

HER EARLY LIFE In 1891 they came to America [Family] Her father died when she was 8 years

old She work on a farm during haying and

harvesting to help her mother brother and her 3 sisters

EDUCATION She didn't have any education but she

was a worker for other people and for her family and she worked a lot when she was a teenager

ADULT LIFE/CAREER When she came to America she was a

seamstress-here she saw her first bicycle

Her mother warned her about bicycle face- a medical condition of both women and men bikers

ACCOMPLISHMENTS She won the best female champion of

the world She made girls try and go on to bikes Her 1st race was a century race, 100

miles, she broke the women's world record by 18 minutes

IMPACT ON THE WORLD

She was the first serious competitor in bike racing. From 1897 to 1902 she was known as the female champion of the world

She inspired girls to ride bikes
