Childhood Rafael was born in Manacor( Balearic islands) on
third of June 1986 His uncle Miguel Nadal is a professional
footballer, who played for FC Barcelona and Spanish national team
His other uncle, Toni Nadal, a professional tennis player, introduced boy to tennis when Rafa was 3
When Rafael was just 8 he won a regional tennis championship for children under 12
At that time Nadal was an extremely promising footballer as well
Rafael is ambidextrous. He plays tennis with the left hand and writes with right
His uncle Toni convinced Rafa to play with left-hand as it is a natural advantage
At the age of 12 won a lot of titles in his age group in Spain and Europe and after that decided to focus on tennis and stop his football trainings
Refused to move to Barcelona and America as he wanted to prove that it is possible to become a pro in his home town

November 2007 to help socially discriminated children and teenagers
