Kolodko was born in the city of Neryungri on July 22,1990 in family of the master of sports of Russia on powerlifting, Champion of Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) on powerlifting, numerous Champion of Mas-Wrestling – Nikolay Kolodko, who enters into top ten athletes of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). At first Yevgeniya was engaged in mas-wrestling and volleyball. But then she made big success on powerlifting and became the champion and the record-holder of Russia and the world championship in 2005 among girls. After this victory Yevgeniya became a student of the St/ Petersburg school of the Olympic Reserves. After a while she decided to return to native land Yakutia where she started training in the shot put under the leadership of father Nikolay Kolodko.

Victories
In 2011 Kolodko became the winner of the youth European championships and the championships of Russia in the shot put section. After that victories Yevgeniya took part on the World Championships in South Korea where she improved the personal record with 19,33 to 19,78m.

In March 2013 Yevgeniya Kolodko won a silver medal in shot put in the European championship which proceeded in the Gothenburg, Sweden. After the competitions she says: «It is hard to put my feelings into words…».
Nadezhda Ostapchuk from Belarus, the holder of the gold medal in shot put, was disqualified because of failing doping control.
As a result, the holder of a bronze medal in shot put at the Games-2012 Yevgeniya Kolodko received a silver medal. Besides, the International Olympic Committee recognized Valerie Adams from New Zealand as the Olympic champion, while Gong Lijiao from China was elevated to bronze.
