Marine Corps Marathon The race is held in October just weeks before the

Marine Corps’ birthday in November. The course for the race varies from year to year, but it generally starts in Arlington, Virginia, and makes its way through Washington, DC.

The marathon is run in conjunction with several other events. The first is the Marine Corps 17.5K held in April. Runners who complete this race earn a guaranteed spot in the Marine Corps Marathon. The marathon also sponsors 4- and 2-mile runs through a course filled with mud pits and various obstacles every June. Finally, before Thanksgiving each year, runners can participate in the Turkey Trot 10K and Turkey Trot Mile.
