(HPDP)

The High Performance Development Programme Beach Volleyball/ Volleyball (HPDP) mission is to provide quality

training opportunities and pathways for talented athletes.


Time Table

Squad


Elite SquadOBJECTIVE

Functions as an integral part of and feeder squad to the Volleyball New Zealand National Indoor and Beach Volleyball programmes. Squad members train exclusively with a goal of

representing New Zealand in Beach Volleyball or Indoor Volleyball.

All Elite athletes are expected to compete annually on the New Zealand Beach Volleyball Tour and the New Zealand Club Championships as well as Volleyball New Zealand Age Group Championships. 12-18 Athletes will be selected with up to 4 hrs training a week

over a 12 month programme.

CONDITIONING COMPONENT

From October 2010 a conditioning component has been added to the Elite programmes. Athletes will get conditioning advice and injury recovery support.

Elite SquadElite Squad Concept:

• Technical and Tactical Trainings to develop skills of Beach Volleyball.• Use of Teaching Games for Understanding Concept• One Training a week to develop technical understanding, skills, games

and game-like drills for squad members to practice in their time• Membership card to centre included to encourage use of centre • Several Coaches there to access information, and support


Elite SquadPhysiotherapy Services for HPDP

Full muscle balance assessments and injury screeningsIdentify areas of weakness/strengthDevise personalised programmes

Specific core stability assessment and home programmesInjury screenings – prevention and rehabilitation exercises

Follow up manual therapy etc provided for ACC injuries

Free physiotherapy for ACC related injuries - injury assessment diagnosis and management including sports massage and deep soft tissue release, joint mobilisation and manipulation, exercise prescription, acupuncture,

kinesio taping and joint strapping.· Free Kinesio Taping/ injury strapping for ACC related injuries


Development SquadOBJECTIVE

Provide an opportunity for physically gifted individuals to be introduced to the sport of Volleyball and "fast-tracked" in the development of basic skills. Athletes are sourced from

the School Volleyball programmes, but also maybe identified through open trials and advertisement in the sporting community.

HPDP Development Squad members are invited to participate in the squad upon successfully meeting the physical criteria set out by the HPDP Volleyball Coaches. Age

group is focused around 14-18 but may include athletes outside of this range. 12-36 Athlete to be selected.

Athlete are expected to participate in Regional and some national events.
