Where are we now?
Lead Bodies and Partners

opportunities in sport
Having the ability to match people with places
Creating joint recruiting and support projects
A pool of potential ‘2012’ volunteers
Challenges and OpportunitiesWorking with Governing Bodies: To help deliver London objectives in Whole Sport Plans.
Working with Local Authorities and community groups: To help deliver sport plans; and plug gaps that won’t be filled by a focus on clubs.
Capitalising on the build-up to 2012: We need to identify and develop more events and other opportunities to maximise
the interest and excitement generated by the build-up to 2012. This is important:
i. if we are to demonstrate how 2012 can ‘add value’ and use the lessons learned to inform and shape the sporting legacy for hosting future major events; and
ii. to help build a credible case for funding beyond 2013.
We need a strategic approach to major events in London to maximise the opportunities for sporting benefits. Greater involvement of clubs.
