BAKUSASA TRUST GOLF CLUB PARTNERSHIP PROPOSAL – DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM 2016

1. Introduction “Our children are the rock on which our future will be built, our greatest asset as a nation.
They will be the leaders of our country, the creators of our national wealth, those who care
for and protect our people.” Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela
The golf industry is staring a problem in the face. The number of young people playing the
game is falling and with it golf clubs are battling, with memberships dwindling. Little is being
done to stop this trend and it is a major concern. Along with this, there are a number of
social and socio economic issues that face our country and are not being addressed. Issues,
such as crime, drug abuse, gang related violence, HIV aids, unemployment and underage
pregnancy are prevalent in our society.
The answer to addressing these problems lies in the children, the next generation, the future
professionals and captains of industry. It is important to ensure our children are given the
opportunity to learn physical, mental and emotional intelligence, with a solid set of core
values.
Bakusasa Trust is more than a golf development organisation, which provides disadvantaged
children with tools, information and knowledge to learn these important life skills and core
values. Using the sport of golf, which is often compared to the “game of life”, Bakusasa Trust
is providing a solution to the problems of shrinking markets within the golf industry by
introducing the game of golf to thousands of children. It is also providing a solution to the
social and socio-economic problems in South Africa by empowering children with the ability
to make informed choices and become captains of industry. This holistic approach is
producing professionals who play golf, rather than golf professionals.
Bakusasa Trust’s complete pathway to success includes strategic partnerships with golf clubs
and golf facilities within KwaZulu-Natal. This synergy provides the ideal platform to create
mutually beneficial solution to Bakusasa Trust, golf club and golf facilities achieving their
objectives and a return on investment for stakeholders.
2. Proposal Overview Bakusasa Trust will partner with preferred golf clubs and facilities in a mutually beneficial
memorandum of understanding. The MOU will detail the benefits and responsibilities of
each party as laid out in the Partnership Proposal below in 4. Partnership Proposal.

development initiative for the specific golf club or facility and will receive the recognition
