I’m an English teacher and fortunatelly this summer my dream came true – I took up sport again and began to go to a fitness club in my town. Frankly speaking I was astonished at the sports staff as all of the instructors are titled athletes in various sports not only in Russia but also of the international level.

A lovely and very charming young lady who gives such classes as Step, Super Sculpt, Flex and Tabs turned out to be one of the famous athletes in the world of sport aerobics. Her name is Natalya Kharlamova (Sokolova before marriage).

also known as sport aerobics and competitive aerobics, is a type of competitive aerobics involving complicated choreography, rhythmic and acrobatic gymnastics with elements of aerobics. Performance is divided into categories by age, sex and groups (individual, mixed pairs and trios)and are judged on the following elements: dynamic and static strength, jumps and leaps, kicks, balance and flexibility.

Sport aerobics is a young but very popular kind of sport. It is rapidly developing in the world and Russia promising to become an Olympic sport in the near future.

A lot of state, national, and international sport aerobics competitions are held every year.

Natalya Kharlamova (Sokolova)devoted 16 years of her life to aerobic gymnastics training at the special Olympic reserve sports school № 2 for children and young people in Nevskiy district, St Petersburg.

Natalya Kharlamova isn’t only an incredibly pretty and fascinating young lady but a very proffesional and demanding instructor who pays much attention to the way the members of her group do exercises. Thanks to the pleasant atmosphere in the classes and her exciting personal example and sports achievements I’m also getting interested in keeping a healthy way of life and obtaining good results in fitness.
