Why do people use drugs at the Olympics? Because drugs give you strength and speed

which gives you a better chance to win a gold medal.

What happens if you get caught taking drugs at the Olympics?

You can get banned for life, get your medal taken off you ,if you had got one and you have to pay a fine.

How are the athletes encouraged not to take drugs?

The athletes are encouraged not to take drugs by when they walk into the Olympic stadium there is a hall of shame. In that hall of shame there are lots of statues of Zeus which the drug cheaters pay for. In the foot of each statue is the name of one drug user.

What drugs and food are banned from the Olympics?

The drugs that are banned are… Stimulants, Anabolic, Diuretics, Narcotics, CERA, Steroids, Cold medicine, Cold pills and Certain Hormones. All of these drugs improve your performance. Caffeine is also banned from the Olympics.

The athletes from the ancient Olympics used lizard meat to cheat for a better chance to win.

When did drug testing start at the Olympics?

Drug testing started at the Mexico City Games in 1968, where all of the athletes got tested. It is not known if anyone had taken drugs and won a medal before that.

Cheaters in the Past Marion Jones from USA had won 5 medals in

the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games for sprinting and long jump. But she had taken drugs to improve her performance. She had got away with it until she confessed and then she got her medals taken away from her.

Canadian athlete Ben Johnston was a sprinter at the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games. He had his medal stripped off him after testing positive just days after setting the world record of 9.79 seconds. He decided to try again at the 1993 Olympic Games Calgary, Canada and got tested positive again and then got banned from the Olympic Games for life. Some people never learn!

Nadzeya Ostapchuk is a women shot putter that has competed in many Olympics before . But in the 2012 London Olympic Games she was lucky enough to get the gold medal, but they found out that she that taken steroids. She was stripped of her gold medal.
