The original sketch

This was an original sketch. I created it by drawing the butterfly and copying one of the sides and reflecting it to the other side to obtain the symmetrical image.

Layer 1

I have created this background in the program Alchemy that uses vector graphics to create random drawings.

Layer 2

In the next layer I have added the light drawings created using the website http://weavesilk.com/ in a "screen" blending mode

Layer 3

In the new layer I added one side of the butterfly, to make sure it is symmetrical. Also, the blending mode used here was "divide"

Butterfly 2

I have used the same method to make this another butterfly. As a background I used the vector image created in Alchemy.

However, I did not quite like the shape of it so I used the brush tool to delete some of the drawing elements.

In the new layer I placed the butterfly, changing the blending mode to "Hard light" and bringing the opacity down.
