Karabatak (cormorant)

General information

• Karabatak is the biggest sea bird in Turkey.

• It has dark color.

• It’s wings are small and its tail is very long.

• In its breast there are white spots.

• Its height is between 80-100 cm and its weight is between 2000-2500 gr.

• It is a very good fisher,

• It can breathe under water for long time,

• They enjoy it and find their food easily.

Reproduce

• It lays eggs once a year and has 3 or 4 eggs,

• Incubation period for Karabatak is 29-31 days.

location

• It locates mostly in Atlas Ocean and North America

and in most places of Turkey.

• There are too many Karabatak birds in Black sea and

Marmara area.
