Avnet Service BriefCommercial Interconnect Assembly

Commercial interconnect value-add products are built and inventoried based on manufacturer listed part numbers. Likewise, assembly methods and part specifications are based on catalog drawings provided by the manufacturers.

Avnet Electronics Marketing has invested in robotic automation for part identification, adhesive application, contact insertion and insulator inser-tion, which is deployed to minimize human error, increase productivity and maintain cost efficiencies.

Avnet maintains an industry-leading low defect rate and adheres to the highest quality standards. These productivity and quality standards, coupled with a $60 million inventory investment, ensure same-day, to a maximum of three-day, delivery.

Avnet Service BriefCustom Cable Assembly

Avnet’s ability to meet customer specifications of varying levels of sophistication yielded more than six million flat flex, flat ribbon cable connector and harness assemblies last year alone. Avnet has a dedicated production cell that assembles first article cables based on customer specifications. Upon approval, Avnet documents and electronically stores the manufacturing process, which includes detailed step-by-step assembly instructions that can be recalled for future use.

All units are built to customer specifications and electrically tested using state-of-the-art test equipment. When required, special test boards are manufactured on site with mating connectors and headers so that any connector used on the custom assembly can be tested. A 100% electrical test is performed on each assembly whenever possible.

Custom Cable Assembly Capabilities>> Flat flex assemblies

>> Flat ribbon cable connector assemblies

>> IDC terminal connections using .100 and .156 centerline connectors for discrete wires or notched cable

>> High-density D and ribbon D style connectors

>> Modifications to cables such as zipping, stripping, soldering, folding/bending and labeling

>> Discrete and multi-conductor assemblies, which include some or all of these operations:

> Crimp and poke

> Soldering

> Labeling

> IDC termination

> Applying heat shrink, phone plugs, twisting/pairing and tie wraps

>> Coax assemblies for single and double conductor flexible cable

>> First Article cable assemblies based on customer specifications; once approved, Avnet electronically documents the assembly process to be followed for future builds
