2016 Predictions for the New York Giants

Ask anyone on the Giants or any one of their die-hard fans, and you will likely be told that

they’ll be waiting to match up against an AFC opponent in Levi Stadium on February 7, 2016.

Whether or not that prediction becomes reality will have to wait to be seen.

When you talk about the Giants, the first thing you have to discuss is Eli Manning. After a

disastrous 2013 campaign in which he threw 27 interceptions, he rebounded beautifully with the

best completion percentage of his career (63.1%), and his second best totals in passing yards

(4,410), passing touchdowns (30) and passer rating (92.1). Couple those stats with his drastic

reduction in interceptions, down to 14 last year, and he seems to have rejuvenated his career. Ben

McAdoo seems to know all the right buttons to push with Manning, and with a year together

already under their belt, it is safe to expect better things in the coming year.

The Giants added a few nice pieces to the mix in this year’s draft as well. Most people expect an

immediate impact by first round pick, OT Ereck Flowers, who will be a welcomed addition to an

offensive line that was responsible for finishing 30th in yards per rush, despite having running

backs that finished 10th in yards after contact. Landon Collins should be able to help the back end

of the defense as well. Of course, the saga of Jason Pierre-Paul leaves a lot of questions

surrounding the identity of this defense.

There is no question that second year phenom, Odell Beckham Jr. will be responsible for his share

of highlight reel plays, and could single handedly win a game or two for Big Blue with his freak-

like abilities. Couple that with the, hopefully, healthy return of Victor Cruz, and the Giants could

own one of the best one-two combos in the league with their receiving core.

In a division that no one seems able to predict this year, the Giants may be in a position to surprise

some people after their disappointing season last year. The loss of Demarco Murray in Dallas and

the drastic makeover in Philly could have this division up for grabs. If Eli matches his performance

from last year, we may just see the Giants atop the NFC East once again. Don’t forget, the last

time this franchise lost 10 games in a season; they rebounded to win their division the following

year.
