YOU’RE THE ANSWER

TO THE QUESTION

Life is Filled With Many Questions

• Some are troubling

• Some are elusive

• Some we cannot answer

• Many are answered in

God’s word

• Others depend upon our

own choices

You Are The Answer To The Question

Is Your Life Going to Be Happy?• Paul learned contentment in all circumstances.

– “Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am… I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.” (Phil. 4:10-13)

• Happiness does not rest in possessions. – Then He said to them, “Beware, and be on your guard against every

form of greed; for not even when one has an abundance does his life consist of his possessions.” (Luke 12:15)

• True happiness rests in obedience to the Lord.– “How blessed are the people who are so situated; how blessed are the

people whose God is the Lord!” (Psa. 144:15)

– “When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord snatched Philip away; and the eunuch no longer saw him, but went on his way rejoicing.” (Acts 8:39)

You Are The Answer To The Question

Will You Have Friends?• Friendship with the world is enmity with God.

‾ “You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.” (James 4:4)

• To have the kind of friends that we should have we must…

‾ Be friendly. “A man who has friends must himself be friendly..”. (Prov. 18:24)

‾ Be unselfish. “Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.” (Phil. 2:4)

‾ Do things for others. “…This woman was full of good works and charitable deeds which she did.” (Acts 9:36).

Are You Saved?• God wants all to be saved.

– “…who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” (1 Tim. 2:4).

• God has done His part—you must accept salvation.– The Spirit and the bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say,

“Come.” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wishes take the water of life without cost. (Rev. 22:17).

You answer for yourself.• Will you “almost” follow Christ?

– Then Agrippa said to Paul, “You almost persuade me to become a Christian.” (Acts 26:28-29).

• Will you wait until it’s “convenient”? – Now as he reasoned about righteousness, self-control, and the

judgment to come, Felix was afraid and answered, “Go away for now; when I have a convenient time I will call for you.” (Acts 24:24-25).

You Are The Answer To The Question

Will the Church Grow and Be Strong?• The church grew in the first century.

– “…Peter stood up in the midst of the brethren (a gathering of about one hundred and twenty persons was there together)…” (Ac. 1:15)

– “So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand souls.” (Ac. 2:41)

– “But many of those who had heard the message believed; and the number of the men came to be about five thousand.” (Ac. 4:4)

• God gives increase... They planted .– “I planted, Apollos watered, but God was causing the growth…” (1Co.3:6-7)

– “The word of God kept on spreading; and the number of the disciples continued to increase greatly...” (Ac. 6:7)

– “…those who had been scattered went about preaching the word.” (Ac. 8:4)

• The church is only as strong as its members – “But the word of the Lord continued to grow and to be multiplied.”

(Acts 12:24; 19:20; 2 Pet. 3:17-18).

Will the Church Remain Sound in the Faith?• The church can turn from sound doctrine.

– “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths.” (2 Tim. 4:3-4)

• Christians must “test all things”. – “But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good…”

(1 Thess. 5:21)

• We must search the Scriptures. – “Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for

they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.” (Acts 17:11)

You Are The Answer To The Question

Will You Go to Heaven?• All people are going some place.

– “These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.” (Matt. 25:46)

• Our obedient works determine the place.– “And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the

throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds.” (Rev. 20:12)

• Jesus prepared a place for His people.– “Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. In

My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.” (John 14:1-3)
