1 John 5:1•Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ

oIs born of God (John 1:12-13, 3:3-5)

•Everyone who loves Him who begot

oAlso loves him who is begotten of Him

1 John 5:2•By this we knowoThat we love the children of God,

When we love GodAnd we keep His commandments

Confirmation that we truly love each other = We keep His commandments

1 John 5:3•For this is the love of GodoThat we keep His commandments

His commandments are not burdensome

The love of God is…oDemonstrated through us by keeping His commandmentsoWhy we keep His commandmentsoSeen through His commandments because they are not burdensome

1 John 5:4•For whatever is born of GodoOvercomes the world

And this is the victory that has overcome the world – our faith

1 John 5:5•Who is he who overcomes the worldoBut he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

* it’s the only way we can overcome the world

Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God (v.1)

Therefore whoever is born of God should overcome the world

1 John 5:9-10• If we receive the witness of menoThe witness of God is greater

Which He has testified of His Son

•He who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself

•He who does not believe God oHas made Him a liar

Because he has not believed the testimony that God has given of His Son

1 John 5:11-12•And this is the testimony:oThat God has given us eternal life,

And this life is in His Son•He who has the SonoHas life

oHe who does not have the Son of God

Does not have life
