As to the mind of the Indian, it is of good quality. I believe that souls are all made from the same stock and that they do not differ substantially.

The Jesuit missions of New France were conducted throughout the seventeenth century in an atmosphere of tension, war, and shifting alliances involving the French and the various native nations.

Unlike the Spanish in Mexico and South America, the French did not come to America as Christian conquerors. Instead, they established a place for themselves in the existing native alliance system.
