Far from being the simple and mindless act that we typically associate it with (“monkey see, monkey do”), imitation is now understood as a complex, generative, and multidimensional phenomenon at the heart of what makes us human. In fact,
imitation may very well be the basis for not only how we learn, but also how we understand each other’s intentions and desires,
establish relational bonds, fall in love, become jealous, compete with one another, and violently destroy each other, all the while
operating largely outside of our conscious awareness.

why we’re all religious and Jesus is the only way
humans are creatures of imitation
Humans copy copy the desires of others .
when these desires come into direct competition conflict erupts
human civilisations have found ways to channel these desires to minimise violence
religion once played this role, now other human institutions do, but they are becoming less able to restrain human desire
in the twentieth century the good and evil in our world escalated very quickly
we are now all interconnected in a global village with the technological capacity to
destroy our world
we need a way of being human that does allow
the desires of envy, greed & selfishness to
lead to destruction
the Christian Scriptures have been exposing this human delusion since the beginning
its Jesus who offers us the only Way .
