Our Mission
To open their eyes and turn them from dark-ness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanc-tified by faith. (Acts 26:18 NIV)
we will try to maintain our ministry in Crimea, given
the fact that so many ministries have pulled out. Real-
ly, the future of the CIU Center in Simferopol is in the
hands of our national staff.

Let us return and visit the brothers...and see how
they are. (Acts 15:36)
Sergei and I just completed our week long visit to
our friends and staff scattered across western
Ukraine. It was a very good trip in all respects. We
were encouraged and hopefully we encouraged
others.
One of the results of the visit to Lviv is an invitation
to teach modular courses for a seminary. They sug-
gested I come twice a year for two months, teach-
ing three week courses in various parts of Ukraine. I
may not stay that long, but coming twice a year is a
real possibility, tied in with visits to Ukraine
(assuming I can yet get a visa).
The president of the Christian Hope Center in Kyiv
invited me to work with them on various projects,
from teaching in the Kyiv universities (assuming the
new relations between government and Christian
organizations bears fruit) to moving my entire team
to their facility and doing in Kyiv what we do in Cri-
mea. I told him I am interested in serving the cause
of Christ in Kyiv and elsewhere, but that for now,
The CIU Center
Rivne.Yevgeny
Novitski worked
with us for many
years, editing Rus-
sian translation of
our English confer-
ence papers. He still
works part time for
the Christian Center
for Science and
Apologetics.

I sometimes find myself singing "The End Of The World"
I am notorious for mixing up lyrics of old songs., and some-
times I just remember one or two lines.
Why does the sun go on shining?
Why do the birds go on singing?
Don't they know it's the end of the world
I wake up in the morning and I wonder
Why ev'rything is the same as it was
I can't understand, no, I can't understand
How life goes on the way it does!
Why do these words come to mind? Sometimes I burst into
tears thinking about the situation in Crimea. There are mo-
ments when I find myself once again in disbelief that Crimea
is not under Ukrainian rule, that so many of my friends and
staff have left, and (at least for now with my first try) we can-
not even get back to our apartment to pack things we want
to ship to the US.
There are so many unknowns yet. Two more of my staff may
not find a way to stay in Crimea. Another possible problem,
our Center legally functions under an NGO, in Crimea, but
Russian laws affecting NGO’s are restrictive.
But I expect that God will find a way for our ministry to con-
tinue in Crimea for it is really needed, even if I am restricted
to Ukraine. Our staff is at work now and will be even if we
lose two of them due to
Russian laws. My tears
are sporadic but my joy
and hope is constant.
‘Trust in the Lord always
and lean not on your
own understanding!’

I preached at a church in
Kiev where the Golovins
attend. The photo shows
about half of the congre-
gation. I also spoke at a
home service.
Update on LaVerne
LaVerne’s mobility in
her shoulder is very
good but the muscles
need strengthening.
Therapy continues.
After that it is back to
therapy on her knees! The ankle surgery de-
pends on how long she can stand the pain of
putting it off and when we can pack up what
we want from our nearly 20 years of living in
Crimea.
S....
S... is back in Crimea and at work with
the CIU Center team. Her residency will no
longer be valid after Dec. 31 of this year.
Pray for her to be able to get Russian
residency in Crimea. Unlike Ukraine, in Rus-
sia churches do not have the right to invite
foreigners. We need to find another way for
her to stay and serve.
Pray those of us who need visas and/or
registration to be in Crimea.
Pray for wisdom for leaders of ministries
that are adversely affected by the Russian
occupation/annexing of Crimea.

Poland
European Leadership Forum > apply for Russian visa for Crimea > Ostroda Camp > apply for visa again
George Bajenski invited Georges Carillet to participate in two
camps in northern Poland, Camp Ostrodo. The second camp
was for Israeli Jews. Including two who had been in concen-
tration camps.

The Crimea diaspora
a visit among friends, colleagues, former staff, and others in need of and exchange of encouragement
Lutsk. In July, thanks to
gross corruption by the
city officials who wanted
the building that housed
the Christian Children’s
Home, Andrei and Anya
& their nine children
were to be kicked out of
where they had lived
since the children were
infants and toddlers. The
take over of Crimea by
the Russians speeded
their move. They have
found a large apartment
in a good location and
they are dong surprising-
ly well adjusting to the
changes.
Lviv/Lvov. Now home to the families of Katya &
Yevgeny, and Sergei & Ksousha, & displaced others.
[Sergei Korniyenko’s wife Ksousha below.]
We spent two nights in Lviv. I spent some de-
lightful time with Sergei & Ksousha and kids in
their apartment. Later I spent some hours with
Yevgeny in his apartment — I was just missing
Katya since she was visiting family in Crimea and
would return about the time I would leave for the
US.
We guys enjoyed some time talking shop.

Ternopil/Ternopol. Ruslan and Sharyn serve
with YWAM in Crimea, but were recently as-
signed to Ternopol to serve the YWAM base
there for one year. They work in Sevastopol
and Simferopol in Crimea. Ruslan is a Ukrainian
citizen, so he can go and come 90 days out of
180. Sharyn does not yet know how she will be
able to resume work in Crimea since she does
not even have the right of 90 days out of 180—
but they have a year yet and who knows what
changes can yet happen. They have a thrift
shop ministry designed to serve families in
Simferopol which they lead from Ternopil. We
may be able to helps them with Tabitha cloth-
ing.
