Let Him have His Way with thee

Proverbs 23 1 When thou sittest to eat with a ruler, consider diligently what is before thee: 2 And put a knife to thy throat, if thou be a man given to appetite. 3 Be not desirous of his dainties: for they are deceitful meat.

When a man of importance invites an ordinary man to a party, there may be a hidden motive.

Don’t let your appetite for his rich foods cloud your judgment; he may be wanting to use you.

Governments are the same.

All of their handouts are given with ulterior motives.

4 Labor not to be rich: cease from thine own wisdom.5 Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven.

A mindset of always and forever wanting more

is a foolish and destructive mindset.

God says, “Be content with such things as you have.”

4a Labor not to be rich.

We are taught in Scripture to work, but not with only the desire for money as our motivation.

Work to honor God, our Father.

Work to do a good job and be productive.

Work to provide a needed service or product.

Any money that we need God will

provide.

Matthew 6 NIV 31 So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your Heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first His Kingdom and His Righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Many people exhaust themselves doing unnecessary things.

Do only that which God would have you do.

Psalm 127:1-2 (KJV) Except the LORD build the house, they labor in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so He giveth His beloved sleep.

Be certain that you are working in God’s Will, doing what He has called and gifted you to do,

and He will bless your efforts.

Without God’s blessing, our efforts are vain.

4b Cease from your own wisdom.

God’s Holy Word, the Bible, is the only source of real Wisdom; the only source of Truth.

Everything the Bible teaches us to do is for our blessing and benefit and of the Kingdom of God.

All that the Bible warns against is to save us

from trouble and from shaming our Lord.

Proverbs 3 5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.

We trust in The Lord by simply obeying His every Word.

We don’t try to figger out what to do.

We simply obey God Almighty.

2 Corinthians 10 4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds;) 5 Casting down imaginations (logismos:reasoning; thoughts) and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

Don’t just reason with your natural mind.

Submit to the Wisdom of God.

6 Eat thou not the bread of him that hath an evil eye, neither desire thou his dainty meats: 7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee. 8 The morsel which thou hast eaten shalt thou vomit up, and lose thy sweet words.

(TLB) 6 Don’t associate with evil men; don’t long for their favors and gifts. 7 Their kindness is a trick; they want to use you as their pawn. 8 The delicious food they serve will turn sour in your stomach, and you will vomit it and have to take back your words of appreciation for their "kindness."So-called

Psalm 133 1 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

We can enjoy the company of our loving brothers and sisters without fear of abuse.

But beware when wicked people reach out to you with seeming kindness; it may be a ploy.

They may later turn and abuse you.

Choose friends carefully!
