April 2017 Prayers for Namibia

Preamble Prayer for Nations taken from 1 Timothy 2:1-2 “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.

Our nation, Namibia, is beseeched with many problems some are social like, child-dumping, gender-based violence – particularly, rape, killings of women and children; others economic problems like the high unemployment, poverty and unequal distribution of wealth; mismanagement of government resources. Others are political, tribal, hatred, and lack of love and unity among our political leaders/ rulers. For all these problems you implored us to pray for our President – Dr Hage Geingob and his ruling cabinet members, advisers, and parliamentarians and law makers. We also join all the civil servants and the entire workforce of the Republic of Namibia.

We are praying for them so that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life in the country Namibia, in a godly and dignified in every way, so that we may have time to worship you oh Lord.

The Prayer taken from the Book of Nehemiah 1:4-11

“O LORD God of heaven, the great and awesome God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, let your ear be attentive and your eyes open, to hear the prayer of your servant that I now pray before you day and night for the people of Namibia your servants, confessing the sins of the people of Namibia, which we have sinned against you.

Even I and my family have sinned. We have acted very corruptly against you and have not kept the commandments, the statutes, and the rules that you have sent your Son to give us. Remember the word that you commanded your servant Moses, saying, ‘If you are unfaithful, I will scatter you among the peoples; therefore God of Israel I beseeched thee today and stand on behalf of the entire people of Namibia and I ask you to turn your anger away from us. Have mercy upon us oh God of the universe. Remember the blood you only Begotten Son shed on Mount Calvary to Redeemed us from this sinful world.

O Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, we have sinned and done wrong and acted wickedly and rebelled, turning aside from your commandments and rules. We have not listened to you’re the Word – your Son who spoke to your pastors and prophets, who spoke in your name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of our country. To you, O Lord, belongs righteousness, but to us open shame, as at this day, to the men of Namibia, to the inhabitants of the land Namibia, and to all citizens.

“O Lord, according to all your righteous acts, let your anger and your wrath turn away from your country Namibia, your holy hill, because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Namibia and your people have become a byword among all who are around us. Now therefore, O our God, listen to the prayer of your servant and to his pleas for mercy, and for your own sake, O Lord, make your face to shine upon your sanctuary, which is desolate.

O my God, incline your ear and hear me today. Open your eyes and see our desolations, and the country that is belongs to you. For we do not present our pleas before you because of our righteousness, but because of your great mercy. O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive. O Lord, pay attention and act. Delay not, for your own sake, O my God, because your country, Namibia and your people are called by your name!

Therefore, turn from your burning anger and relent from this disaster against your people. Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, your servants, to whom you swore by your own self, and said to them, ‘I will multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have promised I will give to your offspring, and they shall inherit it forever.’”

Remember the promises of your Son Jesus Christ, who told us that we should ask of anything in His Name, and that whatever we ask you will give us. Therefore, God of Heaven and Earth, who listen to His Son Jesus Christ, I prayed and ask that, You should have mercy upon Namibia, turn your anger away from the country, give the President wisdom to rule wisely just like you gave King Solomon.

Intercession prayers for President Hage Geingob , the First Lady, Monica Geingos, Cabinet Ministers, Advisers, etc.Our Eternal Father, God of our hope, fill the heart of our President, his Excellency, Dr. Hage Geingob and that of the First Lady, Monica Geingos, with will and courage to shape after the mind of your Son Jesus Christ, to shape Namibia, according to your will in Heaven. Give them wisdom to succeed with the policy and agenda of eradication of poverty in the country, as this is your will for us to take care of the poor in our midst.

Help the First Lady, Monica Geingos to succeed with her programme of One Economy Foundation. Supply her with grace and surround her with honest men and women to be her helpers.

Help us the citizens with the grace to support Government programmes. Help us to pray and work without ceasing that the laws of Namibia mirror your own laws in heaven, and favours the spread of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, which reveal your will and love for our country Namibia.

Help the President and his cabinet ministers, advisers, and staff to work for justice for the poor and for the defense of the fatherless, the windows, the old, pensioners, and the physically challenged people in our society.

Help the economy of Namibia to prosper, even when there is recession affecting the economies of other nations around us, and around the world. Give our captains of industries your Heavenly wisdom for them to be more confident and astute in handling the affairs of the economy - turning bad situations into competitive advantages, in the midst of impossibilities.

Help all of us the citizens and everyone the resides within the boundaries of the country Namibia, to pray, forgive each other, to seek for and have your peace, and to enjoy the just fruits of our labour.

Pleading on Behalf of Namibia taken from Exodus 34:9 Oh God, our Mighty Father, “If now I have found favor in your sight, O Lord, please let the Lord go in the midst of us, for it is a stiff-necked people, and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for your inheritance.”

Bring us all one day face to face with you where we shall see you as you are, in everlasting happiness.

In the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth, I prayed Amen

Supplications for Intercessors and all those who took up the challenge to be praying for Namibia take from Colossians 1:9-12

“And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy, giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light.”

Lord I asked thee to fill anyone that pray with this script, and is taking part in this prayer challenge, with the knowledge of your will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in manner worthy of you Oh Lord, fully pleasing to you oh Lord, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of you Oh Lord.

Strengthen them with all power, according to your glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy, so that they may give thanks continually to your Father in Heaven who has qualified us to share with you in the inheritance you have reserved for all the saints in the light.

For those who are sick healed them of all infirmities so that they may be able to serve and worship you with joy in their hearts.

For those in needs provide them with ways and means for their education (tuition, books or classroom supplies); medical (procedures, treatments, injuries); crisis relief (public crises or natural disasters); and ways and means to overcome personal emergencies (house fires, theft, car accidents); and funeral and loss (burial expenses, living costs).
