How To Gain Clarity and Focus?

Choose up to two areas of primary focus for the year:

•An area in your life (career, health, finance, business, spiritual, family, friends, love, recreation, personal growth)

•A skill (communication, writing, public speaking, dancing, swimming, running, etc)

•An aspect of yourself you want to cultivate/strengthen (self-love, being sociable, confidence, charisma, productivity, organization, discipline, having integrity, responsibility, etc)

Define as clearly as possible your goals for each area:

Questions to answer to gain clarity:

When I Get There, What Do I Want to Experience?

What features do I want to include?

How would I feel when I get there?

How do I know if I’ve achieved my goal?

What is my current reality?

What needs to change in order to turn my current reality into my future wanted reality?

Page 10: Positivity Place - How to Make Your 2010 Resolutions a Reality

Don’t worry about “how”.

Get clear on “what”.

Internal vs. external goalsInternal goals are what will motivate you to reach your external goals.

Questions to ask to elicit internal goal:

Why do I want to achieve this?

How would I feel once I get there?

What is the root emotion I want to experience?

Who else would benefit from it?

Page 12: Positivity Place - How to Make Your 2010 Resolutions a Reality

Plan it.

Looking backwards what are the steps I know I need to take?

What is the next step that I need to take to get to my goal?

Page 13: Positivity Place - How to Make Your 2010 Resolutions a Reality

Don’t allow the dark staircase to scare you

Just take the next stair that is lit

Subconscious mind doesn’t like pain.

•If there is too much pain associated with reaching the goal your mind will sabotage you

•Your action plan should include the idea of pleasure.

•Link the steps you have to take to as much pleasure as possible.

•Don’t envision “hard work”, visualize the steps and smile.

•Give up the phrases “I have to”, “I need”, “I should”, say-“I decide”.
