I could lift you up I could show you what you want to see

And take you where you want to be

You could be my luck Even if the sky is falling down

I know that we'll be safe and sound We’re safe and sound

I could fill your cup You know my river won't evaporate

This world we still appreciate

You could be my luck Even in a hurricane of frowns

I know that we'll be safe and sound

Who Am I?

By: Casting Crowns

Page 12: Pentecost 26 13 combined final

Who am I, that the Lord of all the earth

Would care to know my nameWould care to feel my hurt

Who am I, that the Bright and Morning StarWould choose to light the wayFor my ever wandering heart

Page 13: Pentecost 26 13 combined final

Not because of what I've doneBut because of who You are

Page 14: Pentecost 26 13 combined final

Page 15: Pentecost 26 13 combined final

Who Am I, that the eyes that see my sinWould look on me with love and watch me rise againWho Am I, that the voice that calmed the seaWould call out through the rainAnd calm the storm in me

Confession of Gifts

Leader: Today we are united by the Living God who creates us, redeems us and enlivens us.

All: Amen.

Page 22: Pentecost 26 13 combined final

P: “There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and father of all, and in you all.

Page 23: Pentecost 26 13 combined final

But to each one of us grace was given according

to the measure of Christ’s gift.” (Ephesians 4) Let us bear witness to these words by confessing to God and one another ourgiftedness.

Page 24: Pentecost 26 13 combined final

All: We confess that we were made in the imageand likeness of God. Each of us has been endowed with many unique gifts. These gifts are ours to be used for the benefit of the kingdom of God and to God’s glory.

Page 25: Pentecost 26 13 combined final

We are, each of us, amazing. We are masterpieces of God, beautiful and of great worth. We are of such worth that the God of the universe became one of us in order to save all of us.

Page 26: Pentecost 26 13 combined final

We are salt and light for the world. We are God’s partners for creating a just and peaceful world.

P: We live in a world full of enmity and strife. We live in a world with rich and poor; hungry and overfed, included and excluded. What shall we do with our gifts?

Page 27: Pentecost 26 13 combined final

All: We will see all people as gifted. We choose to look for the inherent worth of every human being. We desire to join with people of all races, classes, and religions to employ our gifts for the creation of a just planet.

Page 28: Pentecost 26 13 combined final

Our vision is nothing less than the promised shalom of God.

Page 29: Pentecost 26 13 combined final

P: May God, who has given us the will to do such things, and our wonderfully diverse gifts, also grant us the diligence and courage to accomplish them. May God lead us by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Page 30: Pentecost 26 13 combined final

May God’s love be as real to us as our own heartbeats.

All: Amen!

Let it be so!

Amen!

Built on a Rock ELW 652

Page 119: Pentecost 26 13 combined final

Built on a rock the church shall stand,even when steeples are falling;

crumbled have spires in ev'ry land,bells still are chiming and callingcalling the young and old to rest,

calling the souls of those distressed,longing for life everlasting.

Page 120: Pentecost 26 13 combined final

Surely, in temples made with handsGod the Most High is not dwelling—

high in the heav'ns his temple stands,all earthly temples excelling,

Yet God who dwells in heav'n abovedeigns to abide with us in love,making our bodies his temple.

Page 121: Pentecost 26 13 combined final

Christ builds a house of living stones:we are his own habitation;

he fills our hearts, his humble thrones,granting us life and salvation.

were two or three will seek his face,he in their midst will show his grace,

blessings upon them bestowing.

Page 122: Pentecost 26 13 combined final

Yet in this house, an earthly frame,Jesus the children is blessing;

hither we come to praise his name,faith in our Savior confessing.

Jesus to us his Spirit sent,making with us his covenant,

granting his children the kingdom.

Page 123: Pentecost 26 13 combined final

Through all the passing years, O Lord,grant that, when church bells are ringing,many may come to hear your Wordwho here this promise is bringing:

"I know my own, my own know me;you, not the world, my face shall see;

my peace I leave with you. Amen."Amen

I believe in Jesus Christ,God’s only Son, our Lord,

who was conceivedby the Holy Spirit,

born of the Virgin Mary,suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, died,and was buried;he descended

to the dead.

Page 150: Pentecost 26 13 combined final

On the third dayhe rose again;he ascended into heaven,he is seated

at the right handof the Father,

and he will come again to judge the living and the dead.

Page 151: Pentecost 26 13 combined final

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

the holy catholic Church,the communion of saints,the forgiveness of sins,

the resurrection of the body,and the life everlasting.

Amen.

Blessed are you, O God, maker of all things. Through your goodness you have blessed us with these gifts: our selves, our time, and our possessions. Use us, and what we have gathered, in feeding the world with your love, through the one who gave himself for us, Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.

Spirit of God, Descend upon My Heart

#800

Page 162: Pentecost 26 13 combined final

Spirit of God, descend upon my heart;

wean it from earth, through all its pulses

move;stoop to my weakness,strength to me impart,

and make me love you as I ought to love.

Page 163: Pentecost 26 13 combined final

I ask no dream, no prophet ecstasies,no sudden rending of the veil of clay, no angel visitant, no op'ning skies;

but take the dimness of my soul away. love.

Page 164: Pentecost 26 13 combined final

Have you not bid me love you, God and King; all, all your own, soul, heart, and strength, and mind?I see your cross; there teach my heart to cling.Oh, let me seek you and, oh, let me find!

Page 165: Pentecost 26 13 combined final

Teach me to love you as your angels love,one holy passion filling all my frame:the baptism of the heav'n-descended dove,my heart an altar, and your love the flame.

Hymn #654

The Church's One Foundation

AURELIA

Tune: Samuel S. Wesley, 1810-76

Page 168: Pentecost 26 13 combined final

The church's one foundationis Jesus Christ, her Lord;

she is his new creationby water and the word.From heav'n he came

and sought herto be his holy bride;

with his own blood he bought her,and for her life he died.

Page 169: Pentecost 26 13 combined final

Elect from ev'ry nation,yet one o'er all the earth;her charter of salvation

one Lord, one faith, one birth;one holy name she blesses,

partakes one holy food,and to one hope she presses

with ev'ry grace endued.

Page 170: Pentecost 26 13 combined final

Though with a scornful wonderthis world sees her oppressed,

by schisms rent asunder,by heresies distressed,

yet saints their watch are keeping;their cry goes up: "How long?"and soon the night of weeping

shall be the morn of song.

Page 171: Pentecost 26 13 combined final

Through toil and tribulationand tumult of her war,

she waits the consummationof peace forevermore;

till with the vision gloriousher longing eyes are blest,

and the great church victoriousshall be the church at rest.

Page 172: Pentecost 26 13 combined final

Yet she on earth has unionwith God, the Three in One,

and mystic sweet communionwith those whose rest is won.Oh, blessed heav'nly chorus!Lord, save us by your grace,that we, like saints before us,

may see you face to face.
