YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE . . . YOU CAN HELP BRING THE GOOD NEWS OF JESUS TO THE POOR . . .

To con nue to bring the Gospel to the poor and needy, priests, deacons, religious and lay catechists serving in the Mis-sions need your support. They need your prayers. They need your financial support as well. Give next weekend (July 5/6) to the Missions! Dona ons collected will directly support the Casa Francisca-na in Guaymas, Mexico, under the care of the Franciscan Fri-ars of the Province of Saint Barbara. Casa Franciscana is a unique interna onal ministry of the Franciscan friars of the St. Barbara and Blessed Junipero Serra Provinces, as well as lay people from both Mexico and the United States. For more than 40 years, Casa Franciscana pro-vided a broad range of cri cal assistance to the people of the struggling port city of Guaymas, Mexico. Casa Franciscana ex-emplifies the Franciscan spirit in today’s world through its col-labora ve efforts. Inspired by the vision and ministry of St. Francis of Assisi, the organiza on offers a variety of direct ser-vices to the poor and outcast: Meson de Jesús (Table of Jesus), Meals on Wheels, Food Delivery for the Homebound, Educa-

onal Services, Health and Dental Care, Medical Mission and Evangelical Service. To learn more about this ministry, please visit: www.sbfranciscans.org/ministry/casa-franciscana.

Thank you in advance for your generosity

PEACE AND ALL GOOD!

I hope that you are all enjoying the summer so far. We celebrated the Feast of Corpus Chris last week, the beau -ful celebra on of the Body and Blood of Christ, the gi of Jesus himself in the Eucharist. A er the 10am Mass, our Guamanian community held its annual procession to the front lawn. If you have a chance, go to h p://mslrpphotos.phanfare.com to see the photographs of chapels they built that represent their home parishes. It’s a beau ful celebra on. Hats off to the Guamanian Communi-ty for keeping this tradi on alive at Mission San Luis Rey Parish. All our graduates are graduated -- congratula ons to all our students and to their families that supported them and prayed for them throughout the years. Educa on is very important. My dad used to say that money and jobs come and go. Things change, but no one can take your educa on from you. It’s an important milestone on our life jour-ney. My prayer for you graduates is that you will always be lifelong learners. Lastly I have good news and bad news. A er an incredible process and very long me, our parish has finally received the permit from the City of Oceanside for the construc on of the parking lot behind Serra Center. This project was ap-proved by the City the week before I became pastor, two years ago. I am delighted that this is finally ge ng going! Now for the bad news -- during construc on, the parking lot behind Serra Center may not be available. That means that parking for Sunday Masses will be a challenge. Please follow the signs, be pa ent and generous with your fellow parishioners. We are working on some crea ve parking solu ons. Stay tuned! The other bad news is that the es mated cost of the pro-ject is much higher than originally an cipated. On the good news side, we have enough money in savings, thanks to the building fund, dona ons and bequests, to complete the project. Unfortunately, this project will drain most of our savings. So let us all pray that the Serra air condi oning doesn't break or the roof blows off. As we move forward on construc on, I will put a FULL accoun ng of all costs in the bulle n so all will know exactly how and how much of our parish funds were spent. We have an excellent Finance Council who has been mon-itoring and reviewing the parking lot costs. I am grateful to them for their good stewardship of our resources. I thank you as well for your con nued support. I hope you find some me this summer to relax and enjoy the beau ful weather and gi s that God has given us here in Oceanside, California.

With my con nued prayers for you and your loved ones,

Fr. David Gaa, OFM Pastor

¡BUENAS NOTICIAS!
