-Christianity: Holy Bible (100 – 300 D.C) -Judaism: Torah (1400 A.C) -Islam: Quran (611 D.C)-Buddhism: Tipitaka (1 D.C) -Hinduism: Rig Veda (1,200 – 900 A.C)

How do religious people show that their scriptures are special?

Religious people see their scriptures as holy and will treat it in a special way, i.e., giving it a separate room in a home.

Religious people turn to holy books to help them make decisions on how to live.

Religious people believe the teachings in the holy book to be true and therefore follow the teachings.

Religious people believe that God has made known His will in holy books. This means that they see it as ‘the word of God’.

Why do religious people see their writings as holy or sacred?

Holy books are very important and for some religious people it is the first source they turn to looking for guidance.
