What is priceless

Would you recognize a diamond?

What you can’t buy or give cant be given a value.

What will go with you is priceless, what is dirt will be valueless.

ਅਮੁਲ ਗੁਣ ਅਮੁਲ ਵਾਪਾਰ ॥

Priceless are His Virtues, Priceless are His Dealings.

ਅਮੁਲ ਵਾਪਾਰੀਏ ਅਮੁਲ ਭੰਡਾਰ ॥

Priceless are His Dealers, Priceless are His Treasures.

ਅਮੁਲ ਆਵਹਿ ਅਮੁਲ ਲੈ ਜਾਹਿ ॥

Priceless are those who come to Him, Priceless are those who buy from Him.

ਅਮੁਲ ਭਾਇ ਅਮੁਲਾ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥

Priceless is Love for Him, Priceless is absorption into Him.

ਅਮੁਲੁ ਧਰਮ ੁਅਮੁਲੁ ਦੀਬਾਣੁ ॥

Priceless is the Divine Law of Dharma, Priceless is the Divine Court of Justice.

ਅਮੁਲੁ ਤੁਲੁ ਅਮੁਲੁ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥

Priceless are the scales, priceless are the weights.

ਅਮੁਲੁ ਬਖਸੀਸ ਅਮੁਲੁ ਨੀਸਾਣੁ ॥

Priceless are His Blessings, Priceless is His Banner and Insignia.

ਅਮੁਲੁ ਕਰਮ ੁਅਮੁਲੁ ਫੁਰਮਾਣੁ ॥

Priceless is His Mercy, Priceless is His Royal Command.

ਅਮੁਲੋ ਅਮੁਲੁ ਆਹਖਆ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥

Priceless, O Priceless beyond expression!

You need a Guru

If you do not know something is valuable how will you take care of it.

It’s not the person it is subject.

ਆਹਖ ਆਹਖ ਰਿੇ ਹਲਵ ਲਾਇ ॥

Speak of Him continually, and remain absorbed in His Love. ਆਖਹਿ ਵੇਦ ਪਾਠ ਪੁਰਾਣ ॥

The Vedas and the Puraanas speak. ਆਖਹਿ ਪੜੇ ਕਰਹਿ ਵਹਖਆਣ ॥

The scholars speak and lecture. ਆਖਹਿ ਬਰਮੇ ਆਖਹਿ ਇੰਦ ॥

Brahma speaks, Indra speaks. ਆਖਹਿ ਗੋਪੀ ਤੈ ਗੋਹਵੰਦ ॥

The Gopis and Krishna speak. ਆਖਹਿ ਈਸਰ ਆਖਹਿ ਹਸਧ ॥

Shiva speaks, the Siddhas speak. ਆਖਹਿ ਕੇਤੇ ਕੀਤ ੇਬੁਧ ॥

The many created Buddhas speak. ਆਖਹਿ ਦਾਨਵ ਆਖਹਿ ਦੇਵ ॥

The demons speak, the demi-gods speak ਆਖਹਿ ਸੁਹਰ ਨਰ ਮੁਹਨ ਜਨ ਸੇਵ ॥

The spiritual warriors, the heavenly beings, the silent sages, the humble and serviceful speak. ਕੇਤ ੇਆਖਹਿ ਆਖਹਣ ਪਾਹਿ ॥

Many speak and try to describe Him. ਕੇਤ ੇਕਹਿ ਕਹਿ ਉਹਠ ਉਹਠ ਜਾਹਿ ॥

Many have spoken of Him over and over again, and have then arisen and departed.

ਏਤੇ ਕੀਤ ੇਿੋਹਰ ਕਰੇਹਿ ॥ If He were to create as many again as there already are,

ਤਾ ਆਹਖ ਨ ਸਕਹਿ ਕੇਈ ਕੇਇ ॥

even then, they could not describe Him.

ਜੇਵਡ ੁਭਾਵ ੈਤੇਵਡ ੁਿੋਇ ॥

He is as Great as He wishes to be.

ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾਣ ੈਸਾਚਾ ਸੋਇ ॥

Nanak, the True Lord knows.

ਜੇ ਕੋ ਆਖੈ ਬੋਲੁਹਵਗਾੜ ੁ॥

If anyone presumes to describe God,

ਤਾ ਹਲਖੀਐ ਹਸਹਰ ਗਾਵਾਰਾ ਗਾਵਾਰ ੁ॥੨੬॥

he shall be known as the greatest fool of fools! ||26||

ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਹਸਫਤੀ ਕਿਹਣ ਨ ਅੰਤੁ ॥ Endless are His Praises, endless are those who speak them.

ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਕਰਣੈ ਦੇਹਣ ਨ ਅੰਤੁ ॥ Endless are His Actions, endless are His Gifts.

ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਵੇਖਹਣ ਸੁਣਹਣ ਨ ਅੰਤੁ ॥ Endless is His Vision, endless is His Hearing.

ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਜਾਪੈ ਹਕਆ ਮਹਨ ਮੰਤੁ ॥ Endless is the Jap with the mantra.

ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਜਾਪੈ ਕੀਤਾ ਆਕਾਰੁ ॥ Endless is the Jap about the Creation.

ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਜਾਪੈ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰੁ ॥ Endless is the Jap about His Endlessness.

ਅੰਤ ਕਾਰਹਣ ਕੇਤੇ ਹਬਲਲਾਹਿ ॥ Many struggle to know His limits,

ਤਾ ਕੇ ਅੰਤ ਨ ਪਾਏ ਜਾਹਿ ॥ but His limits cannot be found.

ਏਿੁ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਕੋਇ ॥ No one can know these limits.

ਬਿੁਤਾ ਕਿੀਐ ਬਿੁਤਾ ਿੋਇ ॥ The more you say about them, the more there still remains to be said.

ਵਡਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਊਚਾ ਥਾਉ ॥ Great is the Master, High is His Heavenly Home.

ਊਚੇ ਉਪਹਰ ਊਚਾ ਨਾਉ ॥ Highest of the High, above all is His Name.

ਏਵਡੁ ਊਚਾ ਿੋਵੈ ਕੋਇ ॥ Only one as Great and as High as God

ਹਤਸੁ ਊਚੇ ਕਉ ਜਾਣੈ ਸੋਇ ॥ can know His Lofty and Exalted State.

ਜੇਵਡੁ ਆਹਪ ਜਾਣੈ ਆਹਪ ਆਹਪ ॥ Only He Himself is that Great. He Himself knows Himself.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਦਰੀ ਕਰਮੀ ਦਾਹਤ ॥੨੪॥ O Nanak, by His Glance of Grace, He bestows His Blessings.

You can’t take it with you

• The body is Dirt

• Your things are Dirt

• The mind with out Naam is filled with Dirt

• The mind can only be cleaned with Naam

ਕੂੜੁ ਰਾਜਾ ਕੂੜੁ ਪਰਜਾ ਕੂੜੁ ਸਭੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥ False is the king, false are the subjects; false is the whole world.

ਕੂੜੁ ਮੰਡਪ ਕੂੜੁ ਮਾੜੀ ਕੂੜੁ ਬੈਸਣਿਾਰੁ ॥ False is the mansion, false are the skyscrapers; false are those who live in them.

ਕੂੜੁ ਸੁਇਨਾ ਕੂੜੁ ਰੁਪਾ ਕੂੜੁ ਪੈਨ੍ਿਣਿਾਰੁ ॥ False is gold, and false is silver; false are those who wear them.

ਕੂੜੁ ਕਾਇਆ ਕੂੜੁ ਕਪੜੁ ਕੂੜੁ ਰੂਪੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥ False is the body, false are the clothes; false is incomparable beauty.

ਕੂੜੁ ਮੀਆ ਕੂੜੁ ਬੀਬੀ ਖਹਪ ਿੋਏ ਖਾਰੁ ॥ False is the husband, false is the wife; they mourn and waste away.

ਕੂਹੜ ਕੂੜੈ ਨੇਿੁ ਲਗਾ ਹਵਸਹਰਆ ਕਰਤਾਰੁ ॥ The false ones love falsehood, and forget their Creator.

ਹਕਸੁ ਨਾਹਲ ਕੀਚੈ ਦੋਸਤੀ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਚਲਣਿਾਰੁ ॥ With whom should I become friends, if all the world shall pass away?

ਕੂੜੁ ਹਮਠਾ ਕੂੜੁ ਮਾਹਖਉ ਕੂੜੁ ਡੋਬੇ ਪੂਰੁ ॥ False is sweetness, false is honey; through falsehood, boat-loads of men have drowned.

ਨਾਨਕੁ ਵਖਾਣੈ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਤੁਧੁ ਬਾਝੁ ਕੂੜੋ ਕੂੜੁ ॥੧॥ Nanak speaks this prayer: without You, Lord, everything is totally false. ||1||

ਨਾਮਿੀਨ ਕਾਲਖ ਮੁਹਖ ਮਾਇਆ ॥ Those who lack the Naam have their faces rubbed in the dirt of Maya.

ਨਾਮ ਹਬਨਾ ਹਧਿਗੁ ਹਧਿਗੁ ਜੀਵਾਇਆ ॥੩॥ Without the Naam, cursed, cursed are their lives. ||3||

How does the mind get Dirty

The mind gets dirty by Munmat and becomes filthy with Durmat.

ਤੀਰਹਥ ਨਾਵਾ ਜੇ ਹਤਸੁ ਭਾਵਾ ਹਵਣੁ ਭਾਣੇ ਹਕ ਨਾਇ ਕਰੀ ॥ If I am pleasing to Him, then that is my pilgrimage and cleansing bath. Without

pleasing Him, what good are ritual cleansings?

ਜੇਤੀ ਹਸਰਹਠ ਉਪਾਈ ਵੇਖਾ ਹਵਣੁ ਕਰਮਾ ਹਕ ਹਮਲੈ ਲਈ ॥ I gaze upon all the created beings: without the karma of good actions, what are

they given to receive?

ਮਹਤ ਹਵਹਚ ਰਤਨ ਜਵਾਿਰ ਮਾਹਣਕ ਜੇ ਇਕ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਹਸਖ ਸੁਣੀ ॥ Within the mind are gems, jewels and rubies, if you listen to the Guru's Teachings,

even once.

ਗੁਰਾ ਇਕ ਦੇਹਿ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥ The Guru has given me this one understanding:

ਸਭਨਾ ਜੀਆ ਕਾ ਇਕੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਸੋ ਮੈ ਹਵਸਹਰ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੬॥ there is only the One, the Giver of all souls. May I never forget Him! ||6||

What can clean the mind?

Mind is Sukum. It needs a Sukum cleanser. Namm cleans the Mind.

ਭਰੀਐ ਿਥੁ ਪੈਰੁ ਤਨੁ ਦੇਿ ॥ When the hands and the feet and the body are dirty,

ਪਾਣੀ ਧੋਤੈ ਉਤਰਸੁ ਖੇਿ ॥ water can wash away the dirt.

ਮੂਤ ਪਲੀਤੀ ਕਪੜੁ ਿੋਇ ॥ When the clothes are soiled and stained by urine,

ਦੇ ਸਾਬੂਣੁ ਲਈਐ ਓਿੁ ਧੋਇ ॥ soap can wash them clean.

ਭਰੀਐ ਮਹਤ ਪਾਪਾ ਕੈ ਸੰਹਗ ॥ But when the intellect is stained and polluted by sin,

ਓਿੁ ਧੋਪੈ ਨਾਵੈ ਕੈ ਰੰਹਗ ॥ it can only be cleansed by the Love of the Name.

ਪੁੰ ਨੀ ਪਾਪੀ ਆਖਣੁ ਨਾਹਿ ॥ Virtue and vice do not come by mere words;

ਕਹਰ ਕਹਰ ਕਰਣਾ ਹਲਹਖ ਲੈ ਜਾਿੁ ॥ actions repeated, over and over again, are engraved on the soul.

ਆਪੇ ਬੀਹਜ ਆਪੇ ਿੀ ਖਾਿ ੁ॥ You shall harvest what you plant.

ਨਾਨਕ ਿੁਕਮੀ ਆਵਿੁ ਜਾਿੁ ॥੨੦॥ O Nanak, by the Hukam of God's Command, we come and go in reincarnation. ||20|

God the Giver

You are a fool to think you did anything…

Did you make the mind?

Did you make the Earth?

Did you make the air your breath?

Did you make your body?

Did you make anything in the creation?

Are you a Fool?

Only fools keep consuming.

ਬਿੁਤਾ ਕਰਮੁ ਹਲਹਖਆ ਨਾ ਜਾਇ ॥

His Blessings are so abundant that there can be no written account of them.

ਵਡਾ ਦਾਤਾ ਹਤਲੁ ਨ ਤਮਾਇ ॥

The Great Giver does not hold back anything.

ਕੇਤ ੇਮੰਗਹਿ ਜੋਧ ਅਪਾਰ ॥

There are so many great, heroic warriors begging at the Door of the Infinite Lord.

ਕੇਹਤਆ ਗਣਤ ਨਿੀ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥

So many contemplate and dwell upon Him, that they cannot be counted.

ਕੇਤ ੇਖਹਪ ਤੁਟਹਿ ਵੇਕਾਰ ॥

So many waste away to death engaged in corruption.

ਕੇਤ ੇਲੈ ਲੈ ਮੁਕਰ ੁਪਾਹਿ ॥

So many take and take again, and then deny receiving.

ਕੇਤ ੇਮੂਰਖ ਖਾਿੀ ਖਾਹਿ ॥

So many foolish consumers keep on consuming.

Take it from the Source

Only Waheguru has the power to liberate.

ਕੇਹਤਆ ਦੂਖ ਭਖੂ ਸਦ ਮਾਰ ॥

So many endure distress, deprivation and constant abuse. ਏਹਿ ਹਭ ਦਾਹਤ ਤੇਰੀ ਦਾਤਾਰ ॥

Even these are Your Gifts, O Great Giver! ਬੰਹਦ ਖਲਾਸੀ ਭਾਣ ੈਿੋਇ ॥

Liberation from bondage comes only by Your Will. ਿੋਰ ੁਆਹਖ ਨ ਸਕ ੈਕੋਇ ॥

No one else has any say in this. ਜ ੇਕ ੋਖਾਇਕ ੁਆਖਹਣ ਪਾਇ ॥

If some fool should presume to say that he does, ਓਿੁ ਜਾਣ ੈਜੇਤੀਆ ਮੁਹਿ ਖਾਇ ॥

he shall learn, and feel the effects of his folly. ਆਪ ੇਜਾਣ ੈਆਪ ੇਦੇਇ ॥

He Himself knows, He Himself gives. ਆਖਹਿ ਹਸ ਹਭ ਕਈੇ ਕੇਇ ॥

Few, very few are those who acknowledge this. ਹਜਸ ਨੋ ਬਖਸ ੇਹਸਫਹਤ ਸਾਲਾਿ ॥

One who is blessed to sing the Praises of the Lord, ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਹਤਸਾਿੀ ਪਾਹਤਸਾਿ ੁ॥੨੫॥

Nanak, is the king of kings. ||25||

What is the blessing

Sifth Salha of Waheguru! If you don’t do this you are the worst.

ਜੇ ਜੁਗ ਚਾਰੇ ਆਰਜਾ ਿਰੋ ਦਸੂਣੀ ਿੋਇ ॥ Even if you could live throughout the four ages, or even ten times more,

ਨਵਾ ਖੰਡਾ ਹਵਹਚ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਨਾਹਲ ਚਲੈ ਸਭੁ ਕਇੋ ॥ and even if you were known throughout the nine continents and followed by all,

ਚੰਗਾ ਨਾਉ ਰਖਾਇ ਕੈ ਜਸੁ ਕੀਰਹਤ ਜਹਗ ਲੇਇ ॥ with a good name and reputation, with praise and fame throughout the world-

ਜੇ ਹਤਸੁ ਨਦਹਰ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਤ ਵਾਤ ਨ ਪੁਛੈ ਕੇ ॥ still, if the Lord does not bless you with His Glance of Grace, then who cares? What is the use?

ਕੀਟਾ ਅੰਦਹਰ ਕੀਟੁ ਕਹਰ ਦੋਸੀ ਦੋਸੁ ਧਰੇ ॥ Among worms, you would be considered a lowly worm, and even contemptible sinners would hold you in contempt.

ਨਾਨਕ ਹਨਰਗੁਹਣ ਗੁਣੁ ਕਰੇ ਗਣੁਵੰਹਤਆ ਗਣੁੁ ਦੇ ॥ O Nanak, God blesses the unworthy with virtue, and bestows virtue on the virtuous.

ਤੇਿਾ ਕਇੋ ਨ ਸੁਝਈ ਹਜ ਹਤਸੁ ਗੁਣੁ ਕੋਇ ਕਰੇ ॥੭॥ No one can even imagine anyone who can bestow virtue upon Him. ||7||

The greatness of remembrance. Sas Gras Sas Sas Rom Rom

ਸਾਲਾਿੀ ਸਾਲਾਹਿ ਏਤੀ ਸੁਰਹਤ ਨ ਪਾਈਆ ॥ The praisers praise the Lord, but they do not obtain intuitive understanding -

ਨਦੀਆ ਅਤੈ ਵਾਿ ਪਵਹਿ ਸਮੁੰ ਹਦ ਨ ਜਾਣੀਅਹਿ ॥ the streams and rivers flowing into the ocean do not know its vastness.

ਸਮੁੰ ਦ ਸਾਿ ਸੁਲਤਾਨ ਹਗਰਿਾ ਸੇਤੀ ਮਾਲੁ ਧਨੁ ॥ Even kings and emperors, with mountains of property and oceans of wealth -

ਕੀੜੀ ਤੁਹਲ ਨ ਿਵੋਨੀ ਜੇ ਹਤਸੁ ਮਨਿੁ ਨ ਵੀਸਰਹਿ ॥੨੩॥ these are not even equal to an ant, who does not forget God. ||23||

What can you give God?

Drink Amrith all the time, listen to Namm and Praise Him.

ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਾਚੁ ਨਾਇ ਭਾਹਖਆ ਭਾਉ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥ True is the Master, True is His Name-speak it with infinite love.

ਆਖਹਿ ਮੰਗਹਿ ਦਹੇਿ ਦੇਹਿ ਦਾਹਤ ਕਰੇ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ॥ People beg and pray, "Give to us, give to us", and the Great Giver gives His Gifts.

ਫੇਹਰ ਹਕ ਅਗੈ ਰਖੀਐ ਹਜਤੁ ਹਦਸੈ ਦਰਬਾਰੁ ॥ So what offering can we place before Him, by which we might see the Darbaar of His Court?

ਮੁਿੌ ਹਕ ਬੋਲਣੁ ਬਲੋੀਐ ਹਜਤੁ ਸੁਹਣ ਧਰੇ ਹਪਆਰੁ ॥ What words can we speak to evoke His Love?

ਅੰਹਮਿਤ ਵੇਲਾ ਸਚ ੁਨਾਉ ਵਹਡਆਈ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥ Praise God, connect to Naam and drink Amrit all the time.

ਕਰਮੀ ਆਵੈ ਕਪੜਾ ਨਦਰੀ ਮੋਖੁ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥ By the karma of past actions, the robe of this physical body is obtained. By His Grace, the Gate of Liberation is found.

ਨਾਨਕ ਏਵੈ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਸਭੁ ਆਪੇ ਸਹਚਆਰੁ ॥੪॥ O Nanak, know this well: the True One Himself is All. ||4||

ਸਾ ਵੇਲਾ ਕਿੁ ਕਉਣੁ ਿੈ ਹਜਤੁ ਪਿਭ ਕਉ ਪਾਈ ॥ Tell me, what is that time, when I shall find God?

ਸੋ ਮੂਰਤੁ ਭਲਾ ਸੰਜੋਗੁ ਿੈ ਹਜਤੁ ਹਮਲੈ ਗੁਸਾਈ ॥ Blessed and auspicious is that moment, and that destiny, when I shall find the Lord of the Universe.

ਆਠ ਪਿਰ ਿਹਰ ਹਧਆਇ ਕੈ ਮਨ ਇਛ ਪੁਜਾਈ ॥ Meditating on the Lord, twenty-four hours a day, my mind's desires are fulfilled.

ਿਹਰ ਅੰਹਮਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਹਨਤ ਭੁੰ ਚਿੁ ਸਰਬ ਵੇਲਾ ਮੁਹਖ ਪਾਵਿੁ ॥ So eat the Ambrosial Name of the Lord as your food; put it into your mouth at all times.

ਜਰਾ ਮਰਾ ਤਾਪੁ ਸਭੁ ਨਾਠਾ ਗੁਣ ਗੋਹਬੰਦ ਹਨਤ ਗਾਵਿੁ ॥੩॥ The pains of old age and death shall all depart, when you constantly sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe. ||3||

ਸਚੁ ਵੇਲਾ ਮੂਰਤੁ ਸਚੁ ਹਜਤੁ ਸਚੇ ਨਾਹਲ ਹਪਆਰੁ ॥ True is the time, and true is the moment, when one falls in love with the True Lord.

ਜਿ ਹਚਹਤ ਆਵਹਿ ਸੋ ਥਾਨੁ ਸੁਿਾਵਾ ॥ Wherever You come to mind, that place is blessed.

ਹਜਤੁ ਵੇਲਾ ਹਵਸਰਹਿ ਤਾ ਲਾਗੈ ਿਾਵਾ ॥੧॥ ||1|| The moment I forget You, I am stricken with regret. ||1||
