LIFE AND MINISTRY OF OUR COMMUNITY A letter for you! Please pick up your Thanksgiving letter from the back of the church today. For all who were wondering about Michaelmas Michaelmas, the feast of Saint Michael the Archangel (also the Feast of Saints Michael, Gabriel, Uriel and Raphael, the Feast of the Archangels, or the Feast of Saint Michael and All Angels) is a day in the Western Christian calendar which occurs on 29 September. Because it falls near the equinox, it is associated in the northern hemisphere with the beginning of autumn and the shortening of days. Michaelmas has also delineated time and seasons for secular purposes as well, particularly in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Source: Wikipedia Church school Our church school members will be meeting in The Study (through the doors by the chapel and turn right). Members return at Communion to rejoin their families. Reception at the Rectory today Everyone is invited to come to the Rectory at 20 Bowden St. for food and refreshments following the 10:30 service this morning. For those who don’t know where that is – just turn left onto Hampton on the west side of the church, walk south to Wolfrey, turn right and walk one block along Wolfrey to Bowden. The rectory is on the southwest corner, and you can recognize it by the wonderful wild garden of native plants at the front.

Floor refinishing Our Upper Hall floor is to be sanded and refinished this coming week, and on Monday, the door between the Hall and the washroom/sacristy area will be sealed to prevent the dust from interfering with the organ repairs. The work will be finished by Thursday, and we have been assured that the floor will be “walk-onable” by Friday and should not interfere with the Thanksgiving Tea on Saturday. Please stay out of the hall between Monday and Thursday. Monday Night Bible study Monday night Bible study will continue in The Study on Monday, September 30th at 7:00 PM. Book Club meets this Tuesday – please note date change For October, the St Barnabas Book Club is reading a historical novel with a supernatural romance - Perdita, by Hilary Scharper. The next meeting will take place in The Study at 10:30 AM Tuesday, October 1st. You are invited! Please do plan to attend our annual Thanksgiving Tea this Saturday, October 5th in the Upper Hall between 2 and 4 PM. Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy this time of fellowship and refreshment. Art Show The 25th annual Riverdale Art Show will take place here on October 18th and 19th. A great fundraiser for St. Barnabas and a great place to find art for gifts or for your own home

A new style of Bazaar The St Barnabas Market will be held on Saturday, November 2nd. We will NOT require the following: DVDs and videos, stuff for the Men’s Table, Toys, Yesterday’s Treasures or Jewellery. There WILL be the usual Bake Table, Jams and Jellies, and a Raffle, and we will be renting tables to outside crafters. . Please speak to Jenny Reid, Janet Booker or Helen Taylor or call the church office if you are interested in renting a table . There will also be a refreshment booth.
