Dictionary Says of Justification: A good reason or explanation for something

So in other words, Justification is:

The Act or a good reason or explanation for Making Man Right with God by grace through faith

In Jesus Christ Justification is the “Act of God” by which (according to His promise) He approves us based on His own standard of righteousness. This He can legally do without compromising His divine righteousness because of the finished redemptive work of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on the Cross at Calvary. This justification can only be obtained through the grace of God and not by our works.




“Yea, they made their hearts as an adamant stone, lest they should hear the law, and the words which the Lord of hosts hath sent in his spirit by the former prophets: therefore came a great

wrath from the Lord of hosts.” (Zechariah 7:12)

So the serpent (or Adam’s indifference) put Eve in a position to disobey God and subsequently made her husband Adam do the same. This marked the beginning of sin in mankind.

Thank God, He did not give up on man. Out of love, He came in His Son to accomplish an eternal redemption for man. Jesus Christ is the provision God has made for the blunders he had perceived that man

will make along the way.

Propitiation is the work Jesus did on the cross to appease and satisfy God's wrath so He would be able to pardon sinners who trust in Christ. It is God’s way of making amends for our sins. This He does by a process in which the guilt or innocence is transferred from one person (Jesus) to another (man). The guilt or the bad actions of one person is attributed or imputed to another. So that when it comes to punishment, the person who is the substitute bears the brunt, and that the person substituted goes away free. This way God made reparations for our sins by transferring them to Christ’s account as He hung on the cross at Calvary. The absolute sinless life of Jesus Christ makes this transaction possible as His innocence is transferred to those who believe and follow Him. (2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 John 2:2; Isaiah 53:4-6; 1 John 5:6-7)

One story that adequately describes God’s love, acceptance and continual forgiveness for us in Jesus’ illustration of the prodigal son in Luke 15; in this parable Jesus told us of the son who took half his fathers's money and ran away, then returned home and his father saw his son and was moved with compassion. But in Luke 15:20 it tells us how the father received his son, "And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him." That is how our heavenly Father sees us, welcomes us, forgives us and loves us even after we've really messed up, and then turn back to Him! He is moved with compassion and welcomes us with open arms.

Other examples in the Bible of our Father’s love as shown through His forgiveness are:

Jesus Anointed by a Sinful Woman (Luke 7:37-50)"Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little." (Luke 7:47)

Woman caught in the very act of adultery (John 8:3-11)"He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her." Each one of them were convicted in their own consciences, and walked away. When Jesus and the woman were the only ones left, He said unto her, "Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more." (John 8:7-11)

On the cross at Calvary, criminal next to him confessed (Luke 23:40-42) Jesus said unto him, "Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise." (Luke 23:43)

The great joy in heaven when a person turns from their wicked ways and turns to God! "Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.“ (Luke 15:10)

Jesus Prays for our forgiveness while He Himself hung on the cross "Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do." (Luke 23:34)

“Man’s action should not be governed by the knowledge of good and evil; IT SHOULD BE MOTIVATED BY A SENSE OF OBEDIENCE.

The principle of good and evil is to live according to what is right or what is wrong. Before Adam and eve ate the forbidden fruit their right and wrong where in God’s

hand. If they did not live before God they knew nothing at all, for their right and wrong actually where in God. By taking the fruit of tree of the knowledge good and evil, they

found a source of right and wrong in other than God Himself.

Consequently, after the fall men need not find in God the sense of right or wrong. They have it in themselves. This is the result of the fall.

The work of Redemption is to bring us back to the place where we will now find our right and wrong in God.”

The Humbled and Exalted Christ

Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven,

and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:5-11)




In Him is the power to obey and no one comes to the Father but through Him:

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. (John 14:6)

Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? No, but by the law of faith. Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by

faith apart from the deeds of the law. Or is He the God of the Jews only? Is He not also the God of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also, since there is one God who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through

faith. Do we then make void the law through faith? Certainly not! On the contrary, we establish the law. (Romans 3:27-31)

David Celebrates the Same Truth

Now to him who works, the wages are not counted as grace but as debt. But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies

the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness, just as David also describes the blessedness of the man to whom God imputes righteousness apart from works. (Romans 4:4-6)

Clearly no one who relies on the law is justified before God, because "the righteous will live by faith." (Galatians 3:11)

So the law was our guardian until Christ came that we might be justified by faith. (Galatians 3:24)

It is impossible for any mortal man to keep the law; in fact no mere man has ever kept the law; the law viciously demands absolute obedience and offers zero mercy so man has to run from the law to seek and obtain salvation by the grace of God in our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Because, “Therefore, there is now no condemnation (no adjudging guilty of wrong) for those who are in Christ Jesus, who live and walk not after the dictates of the flesh, but after the dictates of the Spirit.”

You might say – "Why do I have to know and experience this Jesus you are going on about?" Here is why, when and how you can get to know Him.

Admit your spiritual need. We all are sinners: nobody likes that title “SINNER”, but the bible says in Romans 3:23 that “all have

sinned and fallen short of the glory of God”.

What is the result of sin? In Romans 6:23 we read “The wages of sin is death…” in other words, every sin is another step

towards death. One thing that we need to remember is that God never sends anyone to hell; one can send himself there by rejecting the truth.

Since we can never measure up to God’s standards by our own strength; God has reached out to mankind.

In Romans 5:8 we read, “God demonstrates His own love towards us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us”. It is Jesus, after all, who is the source of life’s greatest high.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to

condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” (John 3:16-17).

What must a person do to accept this gift?

Simply receive it! Matthew 11:28 states –“come to me, all you who labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me…for my yoke is easy and my burden is

light”.

Revelation 3:20 says, “Behold I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with me” Jesus stands at the door of your heart and knocks, seeking entrance into your life to give you peace, change you for the best. John 1:12 says : “For as

many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become the children of God”.

If you haven't already received Christ as your Saviour, don't put it off another day! Take time right now to reflect on the state of your life, how does Romans 3:23 apply to you?

Ask God to empower you to see the true state of your heart – “The heart of man is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked; who can know it?” (Jeremiah 17:9) then when enabled, invite Jesus into your life. Confess your sins. Receive His forgiveness and

the gift of eternal life. You might pray something like this:

Dear Jesus, I know that I am a sinner in need of a Saviour. Thank You for dying on the cross for my sins. Thank You for giving me eternal life. Help me to live my life in a way that pleases You, for whatever time You give me here on earth. I look forward to living forever in

Heaven with You. Amen.
