Pastor Peter introduces a new sermon series called "Journey Through the Bible" where he will walk us through the entire Bible to provide an overview of the 'big picture'. In this sermon, Pastor Peter highlights that the first 11 verses in the book of Genesis are the most attacked verses in the Bible and discusses the arguments and our beleif in the Bible's truth.

2. Genesis Genesis 1 -11 is the foundation for the whole Bible. Sets out Gods purposes for mankind. The New Testament is the redemption plan in in action. The NT makes little sense without Genesis 1-11. NT has more than 100 direct references to Genesis 1-11The Bible without Genesis 1-11 is like a bridge without supports. 2 3. Genesis = Origins 1. Genesis Genesis 1-11 are the most attacked chapters of the Bible: because they are foundational. Most of what we have been taught conicts with Genesis. Most people do not realise that evolution is not science but a belief in origins that excludes God. 4 5. Genesis Science cannot deal with unique, one-off events in the past which are unrepeatable and cannot be tested. To understand unique events in the past you need evidence based on eye-witness accounts. The Book of Genesis is a compilation of written eye-witness accounts. 5 6. Genesis - the toledoth structure The book of Genesis is a collection of eyewitness accounts. The clues to the original documents are found in the text. These are the toledoth divisions. Toledoth is Hebrew for account or generations, or history. 6 7. Genesis - the toledoth structure In Hebrew writing the title and author are given at the end of each toledoth.Account Title/AuthorThe rst toledoth God was the only eyewitness. Something dramatic happened in the time of Noah that radically changed the environment and life expectancy. 11 12. Genesis - what was the Flood? Computer modelling of the Flood as described in Gen. 7-8 The Flood was a huge global upheaval that completely changed the surface of the world, its climate and living environment. The post ood environment was severely degraded and no longer favourable for life. This why the ages drop so dramatically to present levels. 12 13. Genesis The attitude we bring to the Bible will determine what we will get from the Bible. I know this must be true because it is Gods word but I dont understand how this can be! Dig deeper and discover greater treasures. Jesus is our model: He knew and trusted Genesis as the inspired word of God. 13
