Plenty of food is available.

They had new food and plenty of it.

swords and bows and arrows.Joshua had nevernever attacked a city that was prepared

for a long siege.

Joshua challengedchallenged this stranger.

13 And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries?

14 And he said, Nay; but as captaincaptain of the host of the Lord am I now come.

The Lord HimselfLord Himself had come with all His hostall His host to lead the battle.

Joshua recognizedrecognized the Lord as Lord, fellfell on his face and worshippedworshipped Him.

"What saithsaith my Lord unto His servant?"

"If You are going to lead us in battle, just tell

me what to do."

That must be our mindset.

"Lord, I know that You are my life."

"You have promised never to leave me."

"I will obey Your every Word.""I will do what You tell me to do."

"I will reject what You tell me to reject."

15 And the captain of the Lord's host said unto Joshua, Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest is holy. And Joshua did so.

We would expect something bigger; more spectacular.

God just wants our love and respectlove and respect demonstrated through simple, willing obedience.

He will do all the great and mighty deeds.

"Take off your shoes."
