VS. 31--Prophecy

• Matthew 26:31 Then said Jesus unto them, All you shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.

• Zechariah 13:7 Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, and against the man that is close to me, says the LORD of hosts: strike the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered: and I will turn my hand against the little ones.

The Love of GOD the Father

• Matthew 26:31 Then said Jesus unto them, All you shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.

• Romans 8:32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

The Love of God the Son• Mark 15:34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a

loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?

• The burden of the world’s atonement

• Isaiah 53:10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; He has put Him to grief: when you shall make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his offspring, he shall prolong his days, and the will of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.

The value of Prayer

• Psalms 65:2 O you that hears prayer, unto you shall all flesh come.

• Isaiah 56:7 Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon my altar; for my house shall be called a house of prayer for all people.

The value of Prayer—God aides us

• Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helps our weakness:for we know not what we should pray for as we ought but the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

• Romans 8:27 And he that searches the hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because he makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

The value of prayer--Confidence

• 1 John 5:14 And this is the confidenceconfidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us:

• 1 John 5:15 And if we know that He hears us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we desired of Him.

Consistency of / in Prayer

• Luke 22:42 Saying, Father, if you be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but yours, be done.
