Good Friday InsightJesus was condemned to the cross by lesser men in order that we might become greater men and women.

Easter InsightJesus surrounded Himself with lesser men and women and discipled them, so that they might become greater men and women.

First Point

Jesus’ Disciples began to grasp His mission slowly…

as do we!

Matthew 16:1616 Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

Matthew 16:2121 From that time Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised.

Matthew 17:2222 As they were gathering in Galilee, Jesus said to them, “The Son of Man is about to be delivered into the hands of men, 23 and they will kill him, and he will be raised on the third day.” And they were greatly distressed.

Matthew 2017 And as Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, he took the twelve disciples aside, and on the way, he said to them,

Matthew 2018 “See, we are going up to Jerusalem. And the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn him to death

Matthew 2019 and deliver him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified, and he will be raised on the third day.”

Second Point

The women who followed Jesus were also slow on

the uptake.

Luke 24

1 But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they went to the tomb, taking the spices they had prepared.

Luke 24

6 He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee,

Luke 247 that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.”

Luke 248 And they remembered his words, 9 and returning from the tomb they told all these things to the eleven and to all the rest.

Luke 2410 Now it was Mary Magdalene and Joanna and Mary the mother of James and the other women with them who told these things to the apostles…

2 Timothy 2:8

Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, descendant of David, according to my gospel…

Luke 2411 but these words seemed to them an idle tale, and they did not believe them.

Third Point

Surrounded by doubters, Peter’s faith resurrected!

Luke 2412 But Peter rose and ran to the tomb; stooping and looking in, he saw the linen cloths by themselves; and he went home marveling at what had happened.

Jesus staged it all?
