5 AREAS WHERE YOU HAVE TO

EXERT YOUR GOD-GIVEN SELF-CONTROL

ILLUS: EMOTIONAL QUOTIENT IS NECESSARY IN SUCCESS

1.) EXERT GOD-GIVEN SELF-CONTROL ON TEMPER ESPECIALLY MOOD AND ANGER IN BECOMING A BETTER PERSON.

(GNB) Stupid people express their anger openly, but sensible people are patient and hold it back.

(CEV) Don't be a fool and quickly lose your temper-- be sensible and patient.

Proverbs 29:11 A fool gives full vent to his anger, but a wise man keeps himself under control.

2 Corinthians 5:7(NIV)

For we live by faith, not by

sight.

• James 1:26 If anyone considers himself religious

and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless.

2.) EXERT GOD-GIVEN SELF-CONTROL ON SPEAKING AND USE OF WORDS IN BECOMING A BETTER PERSON.

(NLT) If you claim to be religious but don't

control your tongue, you are just fooling yourself, and your

religion is worthless.

James 3:8 but no man can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.

James 3:9 With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness.

James 3:10 Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be.

Proverbs 12:18 Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.

Proverbs 10:19 When words are many, sin is not absent, but he who holds his tongue is wise.

Proverbs 21:23 He who guards his mouth and his tongue keeps himself from calamity.
