Prayer Service on Abortion

WE BEGIN WITH THE SIGN OF OUR FAITH…

In the name of the Father, the Son, and

the Holy Spirit Amen.

Opening PrayerOrtenc: Eternal God, you have revealed yourself as the Father of all Life. We praise you for the Fatherly care which you extend to all creation, and especially to us, made in your image and likeness. O God of beginnings, you are the creator of all life.

Class: Be near us as we unite with our pre-born brothers and sisters who are scheduled for death. Father, extend your hand of protection to those threatened by abortion, and save them from its destructive power. Give your strength to all women, that they may never give in to the fears that may tempt them to facilitate abortions.

Ortenc: May you by your Holy Spirit and by the voice of your church lead your people to rescue from death the innocent children threatened by abortion. God, bring those who participate in their death to true repentance that they may taste your goodness and mercy; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Bless our families and bless our land, that we may have the joy of welcoming and nurturing the life of which you are the source and the Eternal Father of.

Amen.

Closing Prayer  Ortenc: Dear God, our Lord, we thank you for bringing us all here today to

rejoice in the importance of life. We also thank you today for the gift of life, and for the lives of all our brothers and sisters. We know there is nothing that destroys

life more than abortion, yet we rejoice that you have conquered death by the “Resurrection of Your Son.”

Ortenc + Class: We ask that you give us and others the strength to do our part in ending abortion and choosing pro-life. We ask that we are not silent or passive and

that we are never forgetful, but respectful of the innocent, unborn children even when it may be hard. Give us the potency and courage to be active in the pro-life movement, and to never stop defending life until all our brothers and sisters are protected, and our fallen secular world once again becomes a world with liberty

and justice, not for some, but for all people, born or unborn.

We ask this through Jesus Christ, our Lord… Amen.
