I AM GIFTED

EPHESIANS 4:1-161 I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urgeyou to walk in a manner worthy of thecalling to which you have beencalled, 2 with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another inlove, 3 eager to maintain the unity of theSpirit in the bond of peace.

EPHESIANS 4:1-164 There is one body and one Spirit—justas you were called to the one hope thatbelongs to your call— 5 one Lord, onefaith, one baptism, 6 one God and Fatherof all, who is over all and through all andin all.

EPHESIANS 4:1-167 But grace was given to each one ofus according to the measure of Christ'sgift. 8 Therefore it says, “When Heascended on high He led a host ofcaptives, and He gave gifts to men.” 9 (Insaying, “He ascended,” what does it meanbut that He had also descended into thelower regions, the earth?

EPHESIANS 4:1-1610 He who descended is the One whoalso ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.) 11 And Hegave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds andteachers, 12 to equip the saints for thework of ministry, for building up the bodyof Christ,

EPHESIANS 4:1-1613 until we all attain to the unity of the faithand of the knowledge of the Son of God, tomature manhood, to the measure of thestature of the fullness of Christ, 14 so thatwe may no longer be children, tossed toand fro by the waves and carried about byevery wind of doctrine, by human cunning,by craftiness in deceitful schemes.

EPHESIANS 4:1-1615 Rather, speaking the truth in love, weare to grow up in every way into Him whois the head, into Christ, 16 from whom thewhole body, joined and held together byevery joint with which it is equipped, wheneach part is working properly, makes thebody grow so that it builds itself up in love.

WHERE IS JESUS AND WHAT IS HE DOING

TODAY?

1. JESUS IS IN HEAVENWITH BELIEVERS.

EPHESIANS 4:8

8 … When He ascended on high He led ahost of captives, and He gave gifts tomen.

2. JESUS IS SERVING THE CHURCH.

“The church is like a body.”It has many parts and they all work

together for health and life and progress.

Everybody has their bit to contribute.

Jesus is working in the church through the person, and the

presence, and the power of the God the Holy Spirit.

Jesus is empowering leaders and He is empowering God's people.

It’s the Holy Spirit who helps us to become more like Jesus, and, as the

church, to treat one another more like Jesus treats us.

3. JESUS IS GIVING GIFTS.

a. HE GIVES JESUS.

“CHRIST’S GIFT”

b. HE GIVES THE HOLY SPIRIT.

To some degree, the Holy Spirit is present and at work in the world, but He is particularly and powerfully at

work in the people of God, particularly when we assemble together.

c. HE GIVES PEOPLE.

YOU ARE A GIFT TO OTHERS.

d. HE GIVES SPIRITUAL GIFTS.

SPIRITUAL GIFTS

1. It doesn’t really matter whether it’s a

natural talent or a supernatural gift.

NATURAL TALENT SUPERNATURAL GIFT

- is something you justinnately have from birth.- is something you cando before you’re aChristian.

- is something you havefrom your new birth.- is something thataccompanies thepresence and thepower of the Holy Spiritwhen you become aChristian.

2. The way you find your spiritual gift is

trial and error.

a. CONSUMER MENTALITY vs.

CHRISTIAN MENTALITY

CONSUMER MENTALITY CHRISTIAN MENTALITY

- The leadership existsto serve you.- it’s more like abusiness transaction.- “How can I give theleast amount of moneyand commitment andget the most return oninvestment?”

- The leadership existsto equip you to serveothers.- “How can I give mymoney, my time, mygifts, my capacities, myabilities, and wherecould I help bring unityand health to our church

family?”

b. YOUR GIFT IS NOTYOUR IDENTITY.

In Christ is your identity, and then your gift is your activity.

Your identity in Christ explains who you are; your spiritual gift helps

clarify what you do.

c. NINETEEN SPIRITUAL

What needs do you see in the church? What do you find joy in doing for others?

What opportunities has God already provided for you to serve others?
