+About the questions

Each GCSE RE questions should take 30mins whether it is a Philosophy or an Ethics question.

Each question is divided into 5 parts and is worth 24 marks in total.

(a) [1 Mark]

(b) [2 Marks]

(c) [3 Marks]

(d) [6 Marks]

(e) [12 Marks]

Make sure you answer ALL parts of the question – but especially parts (d) and (e).

+Part (a) Questions

These are very simple questions worth one mark only. You will

need to make one statement, perhaps a definition

Example

(a) What is a miracle? [1 mark]

+Part (b) Questions

In these questions you need to make two statements, a mark for

each. You will need to refer to the required religion. Keep it

simple and quick.

Example

(b) State two things which Christians might believe about God.

[2 marks]

+Part (c) Questions

These questions are more detailed and need three statements or

two statements, one of which has been explained in details. You

need to be specific and clear.

(c) What do Christian believe about Jesus.

[3 marks]

+Part (d) Questions

These are very difficult questions. They normally start with the world

‘Explain’. You have to explain religious teachings, beliefs or actions and

have to show that different people will act/believe differently.

DO NOT include your own view. Use the PEE technique.

Example

(d) Explain Christian beliefs about miracles. [6 marks]

+Part (e) Questions

These questions are worth half of the marks, so save plenty of time.

Again use the PEE technique.

You have to respond to a quote. Explain and exemplify your view and at

least two religious views. Compare and contrast. Weigh-up.

You MUST include your views.

This is an essay style question.

(e) ‘There is a lot of evidence to prove there is a God’ [12 marks]
