James 5:13-20

Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray

James 5:13a

Pray that God will …

• Give us wisdom - James 1:5

• Give us grace - James 4:6

• Enable us to stand firm - James 5:8

Is anyone happy? Let them sing

songs of praise

James 5:13b

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! - Phil 4:4

About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other

prisoners were listening to them – Acts 16:25

2. Pray for those who stray

My brothers and sisters, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should

bring that person back, remember this: whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and

cover over a multitude of sins

James 5:19-20

2. Pray for those who stray

Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should

restore him gently. But watch yourself,

or you also may be tempted

Gal 6:1

3. Pray for those who are sick

Is anyone among you ill? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer

offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you

may be healed – James 5:14-16

The healing ministry of Jesus

Does God heal today?

• God heals instantly – no medical intervention

• God heals over a period of time

• God uses medical profession

• God doesn’t seem to heal

Can God use us to bring healing and wholeness?

The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. Elijah was a

human being, even as we are …

James 5:17

Total healing

And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men,

and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has

passed away."- Rev 21:3-4
