GOD’S GREAT CONFIRMATION

The Resurrection of Jesus

Evidence for Jesus’ Resurrection•The Prophetic Word – Isa.53; Psalm 16; 2Peter 1:16-19

•Fact of Open Death By Crucifixion – 1 Cor.1:18f•Looked on as real but “foolishness” to some, real and “powerful” to others

•Fact of Death•Enemies request a guard; friends burying His dead body

•Fact of Empty Tomb•Enemies tried to keep body preserved there

Evidence for Jesus’ Resurrection•Fact of Sightings -1 Cor.15:1ff•Fact of insufficient opposition•Opponents:•Could not explain the prophecies•Could not produce the body they guarded•Could not adequately explain the empty tomb

•Could not intimidate and quiet the apostles ever again

Implications of a non-resurrection are unacceptable•All the testimony of the apostles were in vain -1 Cor.15:14•All believing in Jesus as Messiah has been in vain – 15:14,17•Apostles must be viewed as intentional liars -15:15•All their suffering was for a false issue

Implications of the Actual Resurrection of Jesus•His death was for the real problem of sin – Isa.53; 1 Cor.15:1-3

•The prophetic scriptures are verified as true and therefore hand authority over to the New Testament as prophesied – Jer.31:31f; Matt.28:18-20

•Those who do not believe in Jesus are blind and living in vain for selfish desires

•We will be raised to be judged by Jesus – Acts 17:30,31•All religion not following the authority of Jesus Christ is vain• Jesus is THE Way, THE Truth, and THE Life. John 14:6
