A very good starter definition for forgiveness is “Giving up the right to get even”. Linked to the idea of forgiveness is the idea of Mercy: “Looking
beyond someone’s behavior to see their need”. A good family focus’s on each other’s
needs not their misdeeds.

Music is not important to all families. Harmony is.
Make sure everyone in the family FEELS like they are listened to and their
feelings and thoughts are important. Harmony means that everyone’s
voice is heard and considered.

longer the Holy Spirit lives inside a person
the more he looks like his Heavenly Father.

It especially includes the people at church…the ones
who pray for you and the ones you pray for.
If anyone in your family is going away to college the first
thing to consider is helping him or her find “a family of
faith”…a church.

yourself is NATURAL. Thinking of others and the things that concern them is supernatural.

There are many ways of saying “be strong”. One
way is a gentle touch on the forearm or shoulder.
Another is to offer to help someone with a chore.
If someone in your family is feeling tired or lonely or
unloved…figure out a way to make them feel stronger.
Being loved always makes a person feel strong.

There may be many reasons not to honor your mother and father, especially if there has been a divorce. If you have trouble honoring a father or
mother try making a list of the good things they do…of the times they loved you…of the times they did not hurt your
feelings. God says honor them no matter how many reasons
you have not to. The promise at the end of the verse is a good
one.

Without SHARING there is no fellowship. Sharing FAITH in Scripture and Christ is the surest form

Sounds like God is asking children to be good to their
parents just as much as asking parents to be good to their children. Sounds like
this is very important to God. One way of reading it is that it is not our enemies or our politicians who will destroy
the country…It is the parents and children who choose to
PUT OTHER THINGS FIRST.

This kind of spurring (provoking) is not done
done with real spurs…the kind cowboys wear.
That would be painful and rude. This kind of spurring
means encouraging others to be their best. When people in your family “suggest” you join them
in doing something nice it is because God tells them that is
their job. It is also your job. If you have not done a good deed
this week today would be a good day.
