(I defined faith as “living with full confidence that God would do what He said He would do.”). At least a dozen families stood before EFC sharing their commitment to the challenge presented at the start of the month. I was impressed and deeply encouraged by what I witnessed. That was nearly two months ago. So what is happening with these commitments now? It is exciting to talk about living in the frontier of faith. Actually seeking and trusting God in the invisible frontier is much harder than it sounds. I have heard and seen people responding to the call to pray. New requests are being submitted to our prayer box. Others have joined the Community Pastors at the midweek prayer meeting. At least one family started to apply for their passports. A couple of families have shared how they have raised money to go on mission by selling items on Craigslist and I know two children who have donated money they earned through game testing to their family’s mission trip. We have pursued hiring an associate youth pastor and soon we will celebrate God’s wonderful gift of a new pastor. The Management Team has committed to financially supporting the Lockwoods, Rinderknechts, and Schwarzens in their missions work. What about the commitment to give financially so that we can hire a youth pastor, support foreign missions, and give more to God’s work outside of EFC? Money is a sensitive issue that I strive to handle delicately but I want to share something encouraging that God is doing in my family. Finances has been a source of frustration and at times disagreement for Pascale and I over the years. It has created stress and disappointment countless times. Two years ago we reached our lowest and most discouraging moment. It was then that God set us free. We discovered that our “money” feelings reveal a lot about what is happening in our heart. We trusted God as the source of everything we have believing He will meet our every need perfectly. Most amazingly we discovered that we cannot out-give God! In discussing our financial commitment in this season of faith, Pascale and I chose to double our tithe on my home inspections to 20%. Things have always been tight but I sensed God asking, “Mike, I want what you are not ready to give me. Will you give it to me?” This wasn’t an easy choice because I feared it would negatively impact family. Since we’ve begun to test God’s generosity, He has paid every bill and then entrusted us with even more to give away. We have become a conduit to meet the needs of others like never before. I share this with you to encourage you to join me in the deep waters of faith - trust that God is gracious and good. Family Gatherings: We continued through our study of the Bible book of Genesis in October. With the help of Rob and our gifted team of actors Genesis was presented in some very creative ways! Special thanks to our breakout leaders - Nathalie, Megen, Matthew, Donna, Mike, Kristine, Dan, Jenn, Steve, Janine, Perry, and Lisa.

Youth Pastor Update: We believe that hiring an associate youth pastor is a God-directed, faith-oriented step for our church this year. It is both an exciting and daunting task to discern the right fit for EFC. We have been blessed by candidates who are incredible men of faith who desire to disciple youth in the way of Jesus Christ. Glory to God for what He is doing!

The Farm Trip: Several EFC families spent Sunday afternoon on October 9th enjoying the crisp Fall weather. We picked p u m p k i n s , a p p l e s , watched the duck races, and visited the kittens at the petting farm.

Hope Church Workday: “Pastor Mike, I wanted to express our thanks and appreciation for the help you, your son, Mike Lee, Mark and Jenn provided on Saturday. It was a tremendously productive morning, even in the wet weather. Your assistance was a huge blessing and a tremendous testimony of our being one in Jesus Christ. Please pass along our thanks to your people for giving of their time and abilities on Saturday. We are very grateful!” - Pastor Marty

Youth Corn Maze: The youth spent time at Bob’s Corn in the night maze! It was a fun night as they worked as teams to discover the way out of the confusion!

Family Fall Festival: On F r i d a y e v e n i n g , October 28th we hosted a special celebration for the children and parents at the Family Tree Apartments. We had our biggest turnout of families who sponsored activity booths and spent time with the families who live there.
