Where Do Prophetic Times Appear?

Daniel 7:25  “And he shall  speak great words against  the mostHigh, and shall wear out the saints of the most High...and theyshall be given into his hand until a time (Syriac, !W \[i,  id­dawn,a set time) and times and the dividing of time.”

Daniel 12:7 “and it shall be for a time (Hebrew, ~ydi[]Am., mo­aw­daw', time, an appointment at a place of meeting), times, and anhalf; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the powerof the holy people, all these things shall be finished.”

Revelation 12:14 “And to the woman were given two wings of agreat eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place,where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time,from the face of the serpent.”

How Long is a “Time” ?

The Hebrew word for “day” is ~wy, yomThe High Syriac word for “time” is  !W \[,  iddan, a Hebrew word for “time” is ~ydi[]Am., moadah.

In Ezekiel 4:5‐6, God gave us a prophetic “day” a ~wy yom for a year.God did NOT give us a prophetic “time”,

 an  !W \[i  iddan or a ~ydi[]Am. moadah for a year.

Therefore prophetic “times” are not years,but a different duration of time!

Understanding Idiomatic Language

2Kings 6:10 “And the king of Israel sent to the place which theman of God  told him and warned him of,  and  saved himselfthere, not once nor twice.”

Job 33:14 “For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceivethit not.”

Job 40:5  “Once have  I  spoken;  but  I will  not  answer:  yea,twice; but I will proceed no further.”

Psalms 62:11 “God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this;that power belongeth unto God.”

ONCE is one and TWICE is only one more!

“Time, Times and a Half” is also an Idiom

Hebrew Scholars tell me their languagedoes not support three and a half, so . . .

Daniel  7:25  “And  he  shall  speak  greatwords against the most High, and shallwear out the saints of the most High . .and they shall be given  into his handuntil a time (one) and times (only onemore) and the dividing of time (or halfa time).”

For a total of two and a half  “times.”

When do these “Times” start?

1ST Year of Belshazzar, 552BC: Daniel 7:25 “And he shall speakgreat words against the most High, and shall wear out thesaints of the most High . . . and they shall be given into hishand until a time and times and the dividing of time.”

3RD Year of Cyrus 533BC: Daniel 12:7 “and it shall be for a time,times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished toscatter (or shatter, NAS)  the power of  the holy people, allthese things shall be finished.”

The “scattering” or “shattering” of the power of the holy peoplewas over on June 6th, 1967. That’s when the Jews again controlledJerusalem for the first time in 2573 years. As a result, Daniel 12:7was fulfilled in 1967!!!

But How Long is a Time?

Hay­mer`­ah . . . is an ambiguous word!

2 Peter 3:8 “But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, thatone day (Greek: ºμέρα, hay­mer`­ah) is with the Lord as a thousandyears, and a thousand years as one day.”

The Greek word rendered “day”  in  this verse  is hay­mer`­ah  (ºμέρα),variously translated: day, year, age, while and “time” depending uponcontext. The NAS translated  hay­mer`­ah “time” in 12 different verses:Luke 1:39, 6:12, 23:7, Acts 1:15, 5:36, 6:1, 7:41, 9:37, 11:27, 21:38 andHebrews 12:10. Since 2Peter 3:8 has nothing  in context  to  indicate aspecific rendering, “time” is a plausible translation.

The principle being:any length of time is as nothing to the Lord, 

a moment, a day, a month, a thousand or even a million years. Thus a prophetic “time” could be 

 a 1000 years!

If Time is 1000 years  and Times is only one more,

  plus half a 1000 . . .

Then it is possible that“time, times and half a time” represents

2500 Years!
