What do churches spend money

on?

Page 2: Drysdale stand alone presentation

Programs

Building upkeep

Electricity

Water bills

Youth ministry

Family nights

Page 3: Drysdale stand alone presentation

Cost to start a new church:

300,000 $ (over two

years)

Page 4: Drysdale stand alone presentation

There are over 500

churches in downtown

Denver alone.

Page 5: Drysdale stand alone presentation

I’m not saying that churches

don’t do a lot of good with the

money they spend…

Page 6: Drysdale stand alone presentation

Because they do. But we

also spend a lot of money

(and time) on ourselves.

Page 7: Drysdale stand alone presentation

This isn’t a guilt trip; as Christians,

we need to be good stewards of our

money.

Page 8: Drysdale stand alone presentation

When we spend all of our

time and money in a

building…

Page 9: Drysdale stand alone presentation

We miss the important people that are right outside our

walls.

Page 10: Drysdale stand alone presentation

60 percent of the homeless

in Denver are families with

children...

Page 11: Drysdale stand alone presentation

42 percent are

women…

Page 12: Drysdale stand alone presentation

And of the 10,604 homeless

people living in Denver…

Page 13: Drysdale stand alone presentation

3,374 are teens age 24 or

under.

Page 14: Drysdale stand alone presentation

Big numbers like that make

homelessness both

impersonal and daunting,

but the facts are the facts.

Page 15: Drysdale stand alone presentation

So, what can we do?

Page 16: Drysdale stand alone presentation
Page 17: Drysdale stand alone presentation

Dry Bones is an organization

that seeks to help these

disenfranchised young people

living on the streets of Denver.

Page 18: Drysdale stand alone presentation

Started by Matt and Nikki

Wallace, Dry Bones builds

relationships with teens that live

on the streets…

Page 19: Drysdale stand alone presentation

Bringing life to kids who had lost it:

Page 20: Drysdale stand alone presentation

Dry bones, hear the word of the

LORD! This is what the

Sovereign LORD says to these

bones: I will make breath enter

you, and you will come to life.

Page 21: Drysdale stand alone presentation

This excerpt from Ezekiel 37

is the defining theme for their

work downtown.

Page 22: Drysdale stand alone presentation

Dry bones has a four-

faceted mission:

Page 23: Drysdale stand alone presentation

REACH

We are freely extended beyond

our familiar boundaries in order to

form relationships that lead to

rescue.

Page 24: Drysdale stand alone presentation

Rescue

Within the context of relationships,

the message of Jesus is shared,

people are saved, and everyone’s

faith grows.

Page 25: Drysdale stand alone presentation

Reconcile

The natural response in a rescued

life will be the reconciliation of torn

and broken aspects of life.

Rescued people will find new

beginnings, continue to grow in

faith, conquer addictions, and

return to family.

Page 26: Drysdale stand alone presentation

Reclaim

We equip, inspire, and deploy

God’s people to realize their

purpose: to take back what

rightfully belongs to God.
