THE CURSE OF SICKNESS

Luke 13:10-17

THE POINTBELIEVING IN CHRIST HAS MADE US CHILDREN OF ABRAHAM. AS SUCH, WE ARE AUTOMATICALLY HEIR OF TH EBLESSINGS OF GOD PROMISED TO ABRAHAM. WE HAVE DEALT WITH THE REALITY OF OUR DELIVRANCE FROM THE CURSE OF POVERTY AND TODAY WE WANT TO ESTABLISH THAT WE HAVE BEEN DELIVERED FROM THE CURSE OF SICKNESS. SICKNESS VIEWED IN THE OLD TESTAMENT AS A CONSEQUENCE OF BREAKING THE LAW MUST BE SEEN TODAY AS A MERE WORK OF SATAN FOR JESUS HAS STRIPPED SATAN FROM ANY RIGHT ON EARTH. NEVERTHELESS THE DEVIL IS STILL WORKING AND DECEIVING MANY AND EVEN SOME CHILDREN OF ABRAHAM BY INFLICTING THEM WITH MANY SICKNESSES. AS THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE TRUTH WILL SET US FREE, THE LORD WANTS HIS CHILDREN TO BE AWARE OF THEIR INHERITANCE OF GOOD HEALTH AND TAKE A FIRM STAND AGAIN THE DEVIL AND HIS WORKS.

LUKE 13:10-1710 On a Sabbath Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues, 11 and a woman was there who had been crippled by a spirit for eighteen years. She was bent over and could not straighten up at all. 12 When Jesus saw her, he called her forward and said to her, "Woman, you are set free from your infirmity." 13 Then he put his hands on her, and immediately she straightened up and praised God. 14 Indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, the synagogue ruler said to the people, "There are six days for work. So come and be healed on those days, not on the Sabbath."

LUKE 13:10-1715 The Lord answered him, "You hypocrites! Doesn't each of you on the Sabbath untie his ox or donkey from the stall and lead it out to give it water? 16 Then should not this woman, a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has kept bound for eighteen long years, be set free on the Sabbath day from what bound her?" 17 When he said this, all his opponents were humiliated, but the people were delighted with all the wonderful things he was doing.

ABNORMAL SITUATION

THIS WOMAN WAS HELD BOUND BY SATAN FOR EIGHTEEN YEARS IN THE CHURCH.

RESTORED TO NORMAL

JESUS INITIATED TO CALL HER AND DELIVER HER FROM THE CHAINS OF SATAN

12 When Jesus saw her, he called her forward and said to her, "Woman, you are set free from your infirmity."

ABNORMAL SITUATION

SHE WAS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE SICK BUT SHE WAS. SHE WAS IN THIS ABNORMAL SITUATION FOR 18 YEARS

WHEN JESUS MET HER, HE CALLED HER TO RESTORE HER TO NORMAL.

12 When Jesus saw her, he called her forward and said to her, "Woman, you are set free from your infirmity."

SICKNESS IS ABNORMAL IN THE CHURCH OF GOD

THE CHURCH IS THE BODY OF CHRIST AND THE MEMBERS OF THE CHURCH ARE THE MEMBERS OF THE BODY OF

CHRIST.

SICKNESS HAS NO PLACE IN ANY MEMBER OF CHRIST.

I CORINTHIANS 6:15Do you not know that your bodies are members of

Christ himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never!

SICKNESS IS ABNORMAL IN THE TEMPLE OF GOD

THE BODY OF EACH BELIEVER IS THE TEMPLE OF GOD AND THE HOLY SPIRIT

RESIDE IN HIM/HER.

I CORINTHIANS 6:19“Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received

from God? You are not your own;”

HEALING IN REDEMPTION

HEALING IS PART OF THE REDEMPTION PLAN OF GOD

THE WILL OF GOD

ISAIAH 53:4“Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet

we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted.”

Matthew 8:17This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah:

"He took up our infirmities and carried our diseases."

I PETER 2:24“He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we

might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.”

SICKNESS IS FROM SATAN

“He who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of

God appeared was to destroy the devil's work.”

HEALING IN THE OLD TESTAMENT

GOD PROMISED A FULL LIFE SPAN WITHOUT SICKNESS

EXODUS 23:25-26

“Worship the Lord your God, and his blessing will be on your food and water. I will take away sickness from among you,

and none will miscarry or be barren in your land. I will give you a full life span.”

HEALING IN THE OLD TESTAMENT

THE GOD WHO FORGIVE OUR SINS ALSO HEALS ALL OUR DESEASES

PSALMS 103:2-5“Praise the Lord , O my soul, and forget not all his benefits- who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.”

SICKNESS IS SUPPOSE A RARE SITUATION IN THE NEW TESTAMENT

James 5:14“Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord

LET US TAKE A STRONG STAND AGAINST ANY SICKNESS AND RECOGNIZE IT AS AN

ABNORMAL SITUATION
