UNCLE TOM’S CABIN
Uncle Tom’s Cabin contributed to the Abolition Movement by supporting behind the antislavery movement, depicting the cruelties of slavery system as well as declaring that the Fugitive Slaves Act was unjust to the slaves.
UNITED STATES EXPANDED WESTWARD
Shifted the balance of political power in Congress between the slave states and free states.
TENSION RISEN BETWEEN THE NORTHERN AND SOUTHERN
Uncle Tom’s Cabin depicted the cruelties of slavery by advertising the master with a whip on the cover of the novel.
NORTHERNS’ REACTION ON UNCLE TOMS
Uncle Toms helped solidify support behind the antislavery movement.
SOUTHERNS’ REACTION TO UNCLE TOMS
The Southern were irritated, and declared that the novel was slanderous and utterly false.
UNCLE TOM’S CABIN SETTLES THE CONTROVERSY BETWEEN THE NORTHERN AND THE SOUTHERN STATES
- The novel actually has inspired more people and actually helped many 19th century Americans to determine what kind of country they wanted.
