INTRODUCTION

Here are three pictures of houses (clip out three very different houses from the

newspaper) Tell several things about the person that originally designed or built the

houses. (rich or poor, different design features—ornate or simple, number of levels etc.) Hebrews 3:4 tells us that every house was

built by someone, but God is the builder of all things. God created them and his creation

tells us a lot about the builder, God.

Where did the earth come from?

Exodus 20:11 For in six days the LORD made the

heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the

Sabbath day and made it holy.

God made the earth and everything in it in six days - Genesis tells us what God did each day by saying - …”there was

evening and there was morning the ____ day”. This passage tells us how many days God created the world in. What does this say to those that deny that God created the world and that it took millions and millions of years to evolve? It didn’t even take God one

year - only six - 24 hour days.

Psalm 33:6;9 6 By the word of the LORD were the

heavens made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth. 9 For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood

firm.

What did God use to make the world?

God made the world by His Word. God wasn’t like a person that takes a piece of clay and shapes it so that it becomes a

plate or a vase. God had nothing to start with. He just said, “Let there be…” and

there it was. Whatever God commanded just happened. So when we use the word create with God, we mean that he made something out of nothing by the almighty

power of just His Word.

God made the world and everything in it out of nothing in six days by

simply speaking his Word. (Creation).

Where did each of us come from?

Isaiah 45:12 It is I who made the earth and created

mankind upon it. My own hands stretched out the heavens; I

marshaled their starry hosts.

God created human beings at the same time he created the world. Genesis 2

tells us how he created man in a special way. He gave them the breath

of life and he made woman out of man’s rib. Man and woman were very

special to God, the crown of his creation.

Genesis 1:27-28 So God created man in his own image,

in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. 28

God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the

earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the

ground.”

What is special about the creation of people?

God made man and woman in His own image to rule over everything. God made

Adam and Eve like himself. They were holy and served God perfectly. God also made it clear that when they were created

they were not just another animal, but were placed as rulers over all things. All

this was lost with the first sin.

Job 31:15 Did not he who made me in the womb

make them? Did not the same one form us both within our mothers?

God formed each of us in our mother’s womb. God wants you to know that you were not just an accident of nature. You

aren’t here by chance. You are as special as Adam and Eve in God’s creation, so He formed you in your

mother’s womb.

Ecclesiastes 12:7 and the dust returns to the ground it came

from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.

God made each of us with a body and soul. You have one thing that no animal has—a soul. When each of us dies, as the verse says, our body is put in the

ground out of which Adam’s body was first made. Our soul goes before God to be judged and await the resurrection of the body on the last day. We thank God that he will bring our souls immediately to

heaven because of faith in Jesus.

God formed the first man and woman in His image to rule over everything and he formed me in my mother’s womb with a body

and soul.

Why don’t we accept the theory of Evolution?

2 Peter 3:3;5 First of all, you must understand that in

the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. 5 But they deliberately forget that long

ago by God’s word the heavens existed and the earth was formed out of water

and by water.

Those who teach evolution are unbelievers who deliberately deny God created the

world. Perhaps you had a friend or sibling that refused to believe that you had just

drawn a beautiful picture. Even though you had your mother vouch for you and the

color pencils were still sitting on the table, the other person stubbornly refused to

believe you. It sounds silly, but that is what the teachers of evolution do. All around

them is proof that only God made something so wonderful and complex as the

world, but they refuse to believe it.

Hebrews 11:3 By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what

was visible.

What is the one way it is possible to believe God created the universe with

his word?

It is only by faith that we can know how this world came to be. Were there any eye witnesses to creation? No. Neither were there any scientists to observe for

billions of years things evolving from nothing. Only God was there, and he tells us how he did it. Who are we? Who is any human being to dare to

say, “God didn’t create this incredibly complex and orderly world.”

We don’t accept the theory of evolution because those who teach it are unbelievers who don’t want to accept what we can know only by

faith.

CHRISTIAN VOCABULARY

Creation: God made the whole world in six days out of nothing but His powerful Word.

Evolution: Scientific theory that all things have come through a long process of change & development over millions of years.

God’s Image: Adam and Eve were created to be holy and perfect as God their creator was.

1. Prove why this statement is true. It takes more faith to believe in evolution than it does to believe in creation.

2. People that believe in evolution rather than the Bible’s account of creation have a whole different view on life. Why?

POINTS TO PONDER

Why is faith in evolution preferred by so many over faith in what Scripture tells us

is true?

Evolution may appear to make more logical sense to the human mind—or

does it?

Let’s take evolution to its logical end. If the theory of evolution is true, then there never

were two human beings who began the human race since man emerged gradually

from animal ancestry. Then there was obviously no disobedience in the Garden

of Eden - no such thing as “sin” defined by the Bible. All the bad things in the world happen because people and animals are not acting as evolved as they should be. Things should always be getting better

over time. (ARE THINGS REALLY GETTING BETTER?)

Now if there is no sin, then there is no need for a Savior from sin. Mankind is not sinful by nature, but is getting better and better as they evolve. Christ’s work was unnecessary. We have no need for Christmas and Easter. Jesus was only a good guy that got framed, he was not our Redeemer. The conflict comes down to this. There are two faiths — either you

believe in creation or you believe in evolution. In the end, choices must be

made:

Either there is a God or everything just happened by chance.

Either the human race is responsible to God its creator or they are just

sophisticated animals who are subject only to themselves.

Either we are sinners in need of a Savior or we are only occasional

beasts who simply need more evolutionary improvement to survive.

Either God created the world or the Bible is a BIG myth.

Either Jesus is God’s Son who saved the world from sin, or he is a liar and a crazy

lunatic.

The choice is made easy when we realize that God gives us faith

through the Holy Spirit to believe His Word to be true. Creation isn’t just

one possibility, but it is the only reality through faith.
