GOD MAKES A
COVENANT
GOD MAKES A COVENANT
Throughout human history, we find God
very much involved in the various affairs and
activities of humankind.
GOD MAKES A COVENANT
He is not just there to watch over His creatures but He
participates and continuously shapes our actions so that
we may find our way back to Him through good deeds and
words.
GOD MAKES A COVENANT
He made Himself a part of the historical lives of the people and guided them
through history even when they failed to be
faithful and do their part of the Covenant
GOD MAKES A COVENANT
God is always constant in His love which is to the
end of time and into eternity. In short, the God of the Covenant brought salvation to His people
through active participation in their lives.
GOD MAKES A COVENANT
When infidelities weakened this
presence, God made the promise of a New Presence in a New
Covenant, fashioned by a promised savior.
GOD MAKES A COVENANT
As Christians, we entered in
this New Paschal
Covenant through Jesus Christ by our
Baptism.
GOD MAKES A COVENANT
Unfortunately, like the Israelites of old, our
Covenant with God is often forgotten or taken for
granted.
GOD MAKES A COVENANT
What we have
promised during our Baptism is now rarely
recalled. (CFC 427)
GOD MAKES A COVENANT
To keep alive the traditions left by our ancestors, the
Church continually reminds us that we have to
strengthen our faith, we have to adhere to God in
whatever state of life we are in or in any circumstances.
GOD MAKES A COVENANT
The “obedience of faith” must be given to God as He
reveals Himself.
GOD MAKES A COVENANT
By faith we freely commit ourselves to God, making a “full submission of our intellect and will to God
who reveals,” and willingly accepting the revelation given to us.
GOD MAKES A COVENANT
This faith, however will not grow into maturity if we
will not nourish it
with the Word of God and Eucharist.
GOD MAKES A COVENANT
Indeed, “our faith lives and grows through prayer
and worship” (cf. PCP II 74).
