Gifts that are bestowed on Christians, each having his or her own proper gift (or gifts) to strengthen the church.Ephesians 4:12 tells us these gifts are 12to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.

Other scriptures1 Corinthians 12Romans 12

What are Spiritual Gifts?

Page 6: Church evaluation process

In the church there are two major problems related to the subject of spiritual gifts:

1. Too few Christians are involved in any kind of ministry. They conceive of themselves as spectators rather than participants.

2. Those who are actively involved in the ministry of the local church, but who are not functioning in a ministry which corresponds to their spiritual gifts.

Spiritual Gifts

1 Peter 4:10 Just as each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of the varied grace of God.

Spiritual gifts are a matter of individual stewardship

PHASE I Church Evaluation Process

Page 11: Church evaluation process

To conduct a critical reflection of our church’s

overall effectiveness in ministry as it pertains

to our church vision and mission.  ***The purpose is not to critique the church, but to

enable transformational ministry to build on the church's strengths while confronting weaknesses and avoiding past mistakes.

What is the purpose of the Evaluation Process?

Page 12: Church evaluation process

Is its fellowship warm and loving? Does it demonstrate and practice its commitment

to God’s Word? Are the decisions of its leaders and church body

made through prayer and in faith? Are you growing in love with God daily as a result

of being associated with this church? Are you held accountable for your own obedience

to God’s Word outside the church? Are your leaders men and women of integrity,

character and love? Do your leaders show evidence of spiritual growth

over the course of time?

How do you view your church?

4. To identify strengths, weaknesses, and challenges for holistic ministry.

5. To reveal hidden assets for effective community outreach in your church.

6. To take the pulse of your church's commitment to externally-oriented mission.

7. To lay the groundwork for a strategy for mission transformation.

What are the Goals of MINISTRY INVENTORY GUIDE?

Page 18: Church evaluation process

The Ministry Inventory consists of ten areas of questions related to the congregation's outreach (including all forms of evangelism and service).

The questions focus on local outreach, but do not exclude international missions. Some questions ask about what the church does, others focus on how and why the church engages in external ministry.
