- In those days an edict was issued by Caesar Augustus ordering a census of the whole Empire be taken. This first census took place when Quirinus was governor of Syria. Everybody had himself registered, everybody in his/her
own town.
En ces jours il advint un édit de Cesare Augusto,qui ordonna le recensement de tout l’Empire. Ce premier recensement fut fait pendant que Quirino était Gouverneur de la Sirie. Et tout le monde devait s’enregistrer
dans sa ville d’origine. .
Joseph , donc,partit de Galilée , de la ville de Nazareth, vers la ville de David Judée, Bethlemme, pour s’enregistrer avec sa femme Marie, qui était enceinte.
Also Joseph, from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, moved towards Judea, to David’s town, named Bethlehem (…) to have himself registered with Maria,
his bride, who was pregnant.
Or il advint que, pendant qu’ils étaient à Bethlemme, le temps vint pour Maria d’ accoucher. Et elle donna naissance à son ainè, l’enveloppa dans les langes et le dèposa dans une mangeoire, car ils n’avaient pas trouvè autre place pour
se loger.
While they were there, it happened that Maria’s time for delivery arrived: and she gave birth to her first child, swaddled him in bands, and laid him down in a
manger, as there was no room for them in the hotel.
Du fait la même zone là étaient quelques bergers qui passaient la nuit dans la campagne,
observation toute la nuit au-dessus de leur bande
.In that same district there were some shepherds who were spending the night
in the open country, watching all night over their flock
Un Ange du Seigneur leur apparut , et la Ence meme lieu se trouvaient des bergers, qui passaient la nuit en gardand leur troupeau. joie du Seigneur les entoura de lumiére; et ils furent envahis de crainte. Mais l’Ange du Seigneur
leur dit:
And a God Angel appeared hovering over them and the joy of the Lord enveloped them with Light; and they were struck by great by great fear. But the
Angel of Lord said to them:
” N’ayez crainte car, voilà, je viens annoncer une grande joie pour vous et pour tout le peuple! Aujourd’hui , dans la ville de David est né pour vous un sauveur, le Messie, le Seigneur. Et voici le signe: vous trouverez un enfant
enveloppè de langes et dèposè dans un mangeoire.”
Don’t be afraid! Because, look, I’m here to announce a great joy which will be for everybody! Today, in David’s town, has been borne to you a Saviour, who is
the Messiah, the Lord. And this be the sign: you will find a baby swaddled in bands and laid down in a manger”.
Dés que les Anges partirent vers le ciel , les bergers se dirent: “ Allons donc jusqu’à Bethlemme pour voir cet évenement que le Seigneur nous a fait
connaitre”! Et ils partirent en vitesse et trouvérent Marie, Joseph et l’Enfant dans sa mangeoire.
”. As soon as the Angels left from them towards Heaven, the shepherds told each other: Let’s then go as far as Bethlehem and see this happening that
the Lord has made us kno Found Mary, Joseph and the baby in the manger.
Après avoir vu,ils firent connaitre ce que on leur avait dit de cet enfant ; et tous ceux qui les écoutaient , s’ émerveillaient de ce que les bergers leur
racontaient.
After seeing, then, they divulged what had been told them about the baby; and all those who were listening to them, wondered at what the shepherds were
telling them.
Mary, on her part, was preserving with care all these things, meditating them in her heart. And the shepherd went back glorifying and praising God for all the things that, according to what had been told them, they heard and seen.
Maria gardait en son coeur toutes ces choses en les méditant. Et les bergers repartirent en glorifiant et louant Dieu pour tout ce qui, selon ce qu’on leur
avait dit, ils avaient vu et entendu.
