Claudine is a professional who works
as a counseling who has western values.
Claudine's clients have eastern values and
during the counseling session Claudine tries
force the client to talk out their dilemma.
Claudine needs to not let her own cultural beliefs dominate the structure of the counseling session.
Clients are aware their communication between the professional is all confidential and not shared with others.
The professional has Western values (United States values) which is more forceful and assertive.
The Asian client has Eastern values client and is usually quiet and less open to talking.
Recognize clients cultural beliefs are different from Claudine’s values.
Recognize Claudine’s stereotypical beliefs.
Review Clients case to better understand his or her background.
Seeking other professionals with less cultural bias.
